The PowerBoat Gude had this to say:
Introduced as the 34 Santego in 1989, Carverââ¬â¢s marketing gurus confused everyone by calling her the 638 Santego in 1992 before finally settling on the 380 Santego designation in 1993. This was a popular boat in the Carver fleet for many years thanks to her spacious condo-style interior and a very competitive pricing structure. The Santegoââ¬â¢s expansive salonââ¬âwith facing wraparound settees and twin dinettesââ¬âcreate the kind of party-time accommodations seldom encountered in a boat this size. A pair of full-height sliding glass cockpit doors provides an abundance of exterior lighting, and the wide-open expanse of a single-level floor-plan has to be seen. Thereââ¬â¢s seating for a crowd on the huge fly-bridge where concealed steps in the windshield fold out to provide a walkway to the foredeck. Hatches in the cockpit sole provide good access to the motors and V-drives, and thereââ¬â¢s built- in lounge seating in the small cockpit. On the downside, Carver never replaced the Santegoââ¬â¢s bolt-on swim platform with a more stylish integral platform. A surprisingly good-riding boat in a chop, standard big-block gas engines cruise at 18 knots and reach 26ââ¬â27 knots top.
