Introduced in 2004, the Carver 420 Mariner delivered the space
and comfort boaters demand in a modern cruising yacht. Indeed,
her raised-walk deck design and expansive floorplan made the 42
Mariner one of the roomiest boats in her class. The highlight of
the interior is a cavernous, full-beam salon with high-gloss cherry
cabinetry, Ultraleather seating, and large step-down galley with
under-counter refrigerator/freezer. (Note the big storage locker
under the galley sole.) Both staterooms share a single head
compartment, and a filler piece quickly converts the twin single
berths in the guest cabin into a comfortable double. Flanking
stairways lead from the cockpit up to the Mariner?s spacious
flybridge where three skipper?s chairs face the helm and a circular
aft lounge seats several guests. In the cockpit, a bridge overhang
provides some shelter from sun and rain. Additional features
include a flybridge wet bar, radar arch, foredeck sun pads, cockpit
lazarette, satellite radio system, and an extended swim platform.
Optional 370hp Volvo diesels cruise the Carver 42 at 20 knots and
reach a top speed of 24?25 knots.
