This Boat Sails Great!

If you've never sailed a C&C ask someone who has.

A classic cruiser-racer, the C&C 35 was one of the company's stellar designs. With her beautiful lines and racing heritage she is a cruising sailor's dream of good handling and speed. Roxanne's shoal-draft and 51-foot mast makes her perfect for the Gulf Coast, the Caribbean and the ICW as well. Her owners have stored her on the hard each winter, between trips to the islands. She has just been recommissioned and splashed with new bottom paint, new cutlass bearing and new zincs. She has many excellent maintenance upgrades:

  • 1x19 stainless standing rigging redone in 2008 (due to seasonal storage her running rigging shows as-new).
  • Masthead LED tri-color/anchor light
  •  new Alder-Barbour fridge/freezer
  • new batteries installed in 2016 (start battery and house bank of 4-Trojan T-105s)
  • Battery isolator/combiner, Charles 40 amp 3-stage smart charger, Balmar 100 amp alternator with Balmar smart charging regulator (all added 2012-2016), and Link 10 Battery Monitor.
  • A new engine-exhaust elbow installed in 2014.
  • Her Barient winches and Edson steering pedestal just been refurbished.
  • Owner added Rule 2000 bilge pump and float switch to augment standard electric bilge pump and back-up manual pump.

Roxanne's cosmetics are showing some age, and she needs some DIY work on her deck, and a new suite of sails, which is reflected in her price.

Her next family  will  enjoy this competent sea-proven, blue-water vessel.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1984 C&C Shoal Draft 35 offers a blend of performance and versatility that appeals to sailors seeking a capable cruiser with shoal draft capabilities. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Shoal Draft Design: The shallower draft allows access to coastal areas, bays, and anchorages that deeper keel boats can't reach, increasing cruising versatility.

Solid Construction: Built by C&C Yachts, known for quality craftsmanship and durable materials, ensuring a sturdy and reliable vessel.

Balanced Performance: Designed to offer good sailing performance while maintaining ease of handling, suitable for both cruising and club racing.

Comfortable Interior: Thoughtful layout with ample accommodations for extended cruising, including a functional galley and comfortable berths.

Good Resale Value: Classic C&C models tend to hold their value well due to their reputation and lasting appeal.

Cons

Shoal Draft Trade-offs: While the shoal draft enables access to shallow waters, it can result in reduced upwind performance and stability compared to deeper keel versions.

Older Systems: Being a 1984 model, some onboard systems and equipment may require updating or maintenance to meet modern standards.

Limited Tank Capacities: Fuel and water tanks may be smaller relative to newer designs, potentially limiting range and autonomy on longer cruises.

Interior Space: While comfortable, the interior volume is more modest compared to newer 35-foot cruisers designed with more modern layouts.

Made For

The 1984 C&C Shoal Draft 35 is ideal for sailors seeking a versatile and comfortable cruiser that performs well in shallow waters. Its shoal draft design makes it perfect for exploring coastal areas, bays, and shallow anchorages where deeper keel boats can't go. This boat is well-suited for cruising couples or small families who value a balance of sailing performance, spacious accommodations, and ease of handling on extended coastal or offshore voyages.
