Deck and Hull
Hulls are built for outstanding resistance to collisions, with extra layers of solid fiberglass at potential impact points. In case of damage to the bow or rudder, a Watertight Collision Bulkhead and Rudder Dam are designed to minimize flooding. When rough water makes most sailors miserable, a Caliber owner can cruise in comfort. And with confidence. The Caliber moves more steadily in heavy seas. And due to her high ballast-to-displacement ratio, the Caliber is very stable. The cockpit is arranged to provide the captain complete control with ease and efficiency for short-handed sailing. The innovative steering pedestal, designed with for housings for all your cockpit mounted instruments. In addition other instrument displays are mounted over the companionway for easy viewing from anywhere in the cockpit. The hardtop dodger allows for great visibility and protection from the elements and serves to support two 100W solar panels. Deck stowage space is a rare commodity on many center-cockpit boats. It is abundant on the Caliber 47. Two deck lockers forward and two aft can accommodate large items. In addition a sizable anchor well at the bow features separate tackle compartments for two anchors. The extra strong anchor platform simplifies anchor handling. A swim ladder and boarding platform built into the transom make it easy to board a dinghy or take a swim.
Accommodations
Below decks on the Caliber 47 LRC are spacious accomodations graciously appointed. Her sleeping quarters are true staterooms, expansive and private. The owner's aft stateroom, well separated from the main salon, offers an easily accessible island berth, cedar-lined hanging lockers, lots of storage, and private access to the dual-entry aft head. The forward stateroom features a generous offset double berth instead of a confining V-berth. Other features include a large hanging locker, vanity with mirror, storage shelves. The forward cabin's roomy head features a separate shower stall enclosed by plexiglass doors. The aft cabin has walk-thru head with a combination washer/dryer installed in traditional stall shower. The main salon takes full advantage of 6'6" headroom and a wide beam to provide an expansive living area. The L-shaped settee to port converts to a double berth and has storage cabinets and shelves outboard. The large bulkhead-mounted dining table folds up opening up more floor space. The forward facing nav. station gives a better feel for the boat's actual position while charting courses. It offers plenty of cabinet space to accommodate a full range of electronics, excellent workspace, and storage for books and manuals.
The galley is opposite, to port, next to the companionway (more details below.)
