Original name still in place. Salacia was the goddess of saltwater and the sea. She was the wife of King Neptune and Triton’s mother.

Ownership History:

1. Tom Corkett (Newport Harbor YC)

2. Joe & Jane DeMeter (Richmond YC)

3. Salacia has been owned by the Fetter Family since 1977 when Tom & Jane Fetter purchased her as the family cruising boat and spent weeks every summer on her mooring C2 at Cherry Cove.  Their son Trevor Fetter owned her in the early 2000s and sailed her out of Santa Barbara YC. Since 2006, she has been owned by their youngest daughter JJ Fetter and kept at San Diego YC with occasional cruises to the Channel Islands and along the Southern California coast.

Tom Corkett raced the boat extensively. Notable results include:

  • Los Angeles – Mazatlan Race in 1966 – First in class, Second overall
  • Tahiti Race (San Pedro to Papeete) in 1968 in 20:13:57:19. Second overall
  • Ensenada Race in 1969 –First Overall and first in Class A
  • Transpac Race in 1969 – First in class (Division B)

The DeMeter family also raced the boat extensively in the San Francisco Bay area and competed with Salacia in several races to Hawaii (both the Pacific Cup and Transpac in ‘73).
