A rare find in the blue water capable market, Lee Sea Anne 1 is the last Cabo Rico 38 Pilothouse cutter ever made. The boat's very well equipped for cruising with many upgrades.  Her exquisite yacht quality teak interior is notorious in the Cabo Rico brand.

She's recently been sailed south from Titusville to the Florida Keys, did a quick trip out to the Dry Tortugas and now back in Marathon and available for showings.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1999 Cabo Rico 38 Pilothouse Cutter is a well-regarded cruising sailboat known for its sturdy construction and classic design. Here are some of the pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Solid Build Quality: Cabo Rico yachts are known for their robust, hand-crafted construction using high-quality materials, making the 38 Pilothouse durable and reliable for long-distance cruising.

Classic Pilothouse Design: The pilothouse offers excellent protection from the elements and good visibility, enhancing comfort and safety during extended voyages.

Spacious Interior: Despite its 38-foot length, the layout is efficient, providing comfortable living space with well-planned accommodations.

Cutter Rig: The cutter sail plan offers versatility and ease of sail handling, especially in varying wind conditions, making it suitable for offshore sailing.

Good Storage: Ample storage space for gear and provisions supports extended cruising.

Seaworthy and Stable: The design and heavy displacement contribute to a stable and comfortable ride in rough seas.

Cons

Older Design: Being a model from 1999, some aspects of the design and systems may feel dated compared to newer sailboats.

Heavier Displacement: While this adds to seaworthiness, it can result in slower speeds and less responsiveness under sail.

Maintenance Requirements: High-quality craftsmanship means maintenance can be more intensive and sometimes costly, especially for teak woodwork and traditional fittings.

Limited Modern Amenities: The boat may lack some contemporary conveniences and electronics found on newer vessels unless upgraded.

Pilothouse Layout: While protective, the pilothouse can limit visibility from the cockpit and may reduce outdoor social space compared to open cockpit designs.
