"Halcyon's" interior is executed very much in traditional Herreshoff style with white bulkheads and joinery fronts accented by cherry wood trim varnished in a satin finish. The hull interior is clear epoxy coated and varnished in a satin finish letting the beauty of the natural wood show through. All cabin floors are of wide board teak varnished in a satin finish. All the way forward is a centerline Queen Size berth (6'6" x 4'2") with access port and starboard, a feature not found on many boats of this size, which provides sleeping accommodations for two. Generous sliding storage drawers (2 ea) are located under the sleeping berth and there is shelf space and drawer storage for personal items (books, glasses, etc), both port and starboard, outboard of the sleeping berth. Additional storage for clothing, etc. is provided for by lockers (2 ea) located outboard (port and starboard) just forward of the after bulkhead. The port locker is a hanging locker type and the starboard locker is equipped with shelves. Cabin floors are of plank teak with steps rising on both port and starboard sides of the berth allowing for ease of movement getting into or out of the berth. Privacy for the forward cabin can be achieved by the closing of a pocket type door that separates the forward cabin from the passageway to the main cabin area. Natural lighting is supplied by the large overhead hatch and four (4) oval fixed port lights. Electric lighting is supplied by four (4) over head dome lights. The head is full width and located between the Forward Cabin and the Main Salon. It can be isolated from both areas by closing the pocket door and opening the door to the toilet/washbasin compartment. This allows one to shower on the centerline with full headroom and complete privacy. There is a separate sump and custom teak grate in this area. The head is by Raritan and fully electric with dedicated holding tank and deck pump out.
Main Salon
The salon area features settee seating/berthing port and starboard with water tanks underneath and storage areas (shelves and lockers) located above and outboard of the settees. A drop leaf table located on centerline between the settees provides comfortable dining space for up to six people. Two (2) varnished teak racks are located on the port forward bulkhead and are used for chart storage. Natural lighting is supplied to the main cabin area by the large overhead hatch and a total of four (4) oval shaped fixed port lights. Electrical lighting includes overhead dome lights in the main salon area and four rod lights in the galley/nav areas aft. Aft of the salon area is the galley area, companionway and a navigation area. The companionway ladder/steps are attached to the forward panel of the engine room area which can be removed to provide access to the engine room area. To port of the companionway is the galley area equipped with an Origo two-burner alcohol stove, galley sink provided with hot and cold pressure water and a microwave oven located in the cabinet outboard, Storage for food stuffs, plates. classes, cutlery, etc is provided for with cabinets and drawers. Additionally there is a varnished teak towel bar located on the aft bulkhead. Starboard of the companionway is a large, well-insulated, top-loading ice box. The large flat surface of the ice box top is a perfect spot to spread a chart for navigation. Located outboard of the ice box is the VHF radio, AM/FM CD player and Raymarine E80 chart plotter monitor.
Cockpit coaming tops, seat tops and cockpit sole are of laid teak left in a natural (untreated) condition. Aft cabin bulkhead is of varnished teak. Interior coming sides and other vertical surfaces are painted (Awlgrip) Desert Sand in color. Storage is provided by six (6) small storage pockets located under the cockpit coming and in two (2) large sail lockers under the cockpit seating. The cockpit is "T" shaped with a bridge deck running across the width of the cockpit immediately aft of the cabin/ companionway and a large hatch located in the cockpit sole which allows for access to the engine room area. Hardware and equipment located in the cockpit is as follows: Six (6) Harken 2-speed self-tailing winches, Whitlock steering pedestal with stainless steel (elk hide covered) wheel, extended pedestal guard, and single lever engine control. Two (2) cup holders mounted on pedestal guard, along with Raymarine E120 chart/plotter/radar. Whale manual bilge pump mounted under helm seat. Harken mainsheet traveler with adjustable traveler car (Note: Mainsheet is double ended and is lead forward to the after cockpit winches port and starboard, mainsheet turning blocks are equipped with lock-off levers). The Yanmar deluxe engine panel is located at the aft end of the starboard seat locker and includes gauges for engine rpm, oil pressure, engine temperature and engine hour meter. Sailing instruments (Raytheon ST60 Tridata and AWI) are located aft of the port seat locker.
Deck Gear
Full length toe rail(s) and taffrail (aft) are of varnished teak with polished stainless steel hawse pipes at bow, polished stainless steel mid-rail cleats and polished stainless steel chocks at stern. Polished stainless steel deck cleats (2 ea.) at bow and stern. Deck surfaces are of laid teak left in a natural (untreated) condition. Bow pulpit and stern pushpit are of polished stainless steel, two (2) life ring brackets are mounted on the pushpit. 24" Stainless steel stanchions support double (upper and lower) vinyl coated wire lifelines. There are opening gates both port and starboard. Stainless steel stem fitting. Stainless steel single roller bow roller for primary anchor. Lewmar low-profile windlass with hand-held windlass control (up and down) stored in anchor locker. Large anchor locker provides storage for primary anchor chain and rode with additional storage for secondary anchor, chain and rode. There are a total of 4 stainless steel deck fills servicing the water tanks (3ea) and waste tank (1ea). With the exception of deck fills, port and starboard deck hardware is identical and includes the following equipment, stainless steel chain plates, stainless steel mid-rail cleats, Harken track with car and stand-up block for use with overlapping headsail leads, Harken track with two cars and blocks mounted on toe rail (aft) to facilitate outboard leads. The aft deck area hardware includes stainless steel docking cleats and chocks, stainless steel backstay tang, a socket used for the support of the radar post and a large flush teak hatch giving access to the lazzerette storage area below
