Boston Whaler was created back in 1958 when Richard Fisher and famed naval architect Ray Hunt came together with the desire to design and "unsinkable boat". The foam core fully surrounded by a fiberglass hull proved to be just the ticket, it worked so well that a hull was cut into three pieces with the bow and mid section being towed by the stern with a driver running the perfectly functioning outboard in several ads promoting the boat's unsinkable, safe hull design. After 67 years Boston Whaler is synonymous with safety and unsinkability to this day. The designs and styling may have changed in recent years but these boats are still functioning the way Fisher and Hunt had envisioned all those years before.
The Sourpuss 13 was produced from 1971-1975 and was the most highly featured model in the 13' lineup. No exact production numbers seem to be available however it is widely known that the Sourpuss model is relatively uncommon and don't come on the market all that often. A couple features which were considered upgrades from the other 13' models are the full width helm bench with backrest and helm in the center of the boat and the stainless steel wrap-around side and aft rail.
This 1972 example has had the same owner for the past 24 years and it was repowered with a newer 2015 Mercury 25 hp ELPT Four Stroke engine and includes a battery, six gallon fuel tank, Dilly bunk trailer and full cover.
