The Boston Whaler 270 Vantage is a newly designed dual-console boat crafted to serve as a versatile, feature-rich family water sports vessel. Engineered from the hull up, this model aims to combine top-tier market capabilities with the ability to handle challenging big water conditions. It is part of Boston Whaler's Vantage series, emphasizing stability, comfort, and adaptability across various boating activities.
Hull Design and Performance
A standout feature of the 270 Vantage is its innovative hull design, which delivers a stable and comfortable ride at all speeds. During testing, the boat demonstrated exceptional handling, feeling firmly planted on the water with smooth, controlled turns free from chine digging or excessive bumps. The flat chine design effectively deflects spray low and wide, keeping the cockpit dry even in hard turns and gusty winds. The hull’s 20-degree deadrise at the transom, combined with a 9-foot beam and 20-inch draft, contributes to its confident ride in varying sea conditions. Powered by twin 225 horsepower Mercury Verado outboard engines with 14.5-inch diameter, 17-degree pitch inertia props, the boat achieved a top speed of 47.2 miles per hour at 5,960 RPM, burning 46.10 gallons per hour. Its best cruise speed was 30.9 miles per hour at 4,000 RPM with a fuel burn of 16.5 gallons per hour, yielding a range of approximately 294 miles. Acceleration was brisk, with a time to plane of 3.8 seconds and 0 to 30 miles per hour in 6.3 seconds. Notably, bow rise was minimal, maintaining clear forward visibility during acceleration.

The 270 Vantage’s deck layout includes a 28-inch high padded gunnel on the port side with integrated rod holders and a stainless hose pipe leading to an 8-inch cleat. Conveniently located are the shore power main switch, breaker, and water fill port. The boat is equipped with two self-bailing 2.5-inch scuppers on both sides for efficient drainage. The starboard side houses the main battery switch. A large centrally located hatch provides access to through-hole fittings, batteries, the fuel tank forward, and the automatic bilge pump aft. A freshwater shower is conveniently located to starboard near the reboarding grab handle.
