An immaculate 2014 Boston Whaler 23 Vantage stored high and dry in Naples, FL.  A second owner boat, maintained by MarineMax Naples Yacht Center only.  She has a bow rail, which adds safety and stylish looks to the Vantage.  Her powerful and reliable 300 Verado will get you to Keewaydin or 10,000 islands in a hurry. This is a perfect SWFL boat.  The owner spends the majority of his time flying his plane, therefore he is selling.  He purchased her from MarineMax Naples a year ago and has only put 50 hours on her 240 hour total.

Her bow rail allows for easy boarding and disembarking.  She is perfectly appointed with a Garmin touch screen GPS, a Garmin VHF radio, a Fusion Stereo, Lenco Trim Tabs and vertical stainless-steel rod holders on her transom.

This boat is stored in a boat barn, out of the sun and elements and is in pristine condition.

Boston Whaler 230 Vantage: BoatTEST Review

Reviewed by Jeff Hammond

Boat Test Review on BoatTest.com

Overview

The Boston Whaler 230 Vantage is a newly designed dual console boat tailored for water sports and family boating. It represents a departure from the traditional Boston Whaler aesthetic, focusing on versatility and performance from the hull up.

Helm and Exterior Features

The helm is thoughtfully designed with a centered compass integrated into the steering wheel hub. The dash is covered in black ultra leather to minimize windshield glare, and two SmartCraft gauges are positioned above the wheel for clear visibility. To the right, there is space allocated for a large multifunction display. The throttle placement allows for comfortable standing operation and fine speed adjustments when seated, supported by a sturdy helm seat with high-density foam and a fully adjustable bolster to accommodate operators of varying heights. At the bow, recessed cleats and a non-skid surface enhance safety and utility. A freshwater shower is conveniently located next to a grab handle, and the large anchor locker hatch provides easy access to the windlass and line management. Additionally, a four-step stainless steel beach ladder is easily deployable.

Power and Performance

The 230 Vantage measures 23 feet 3 inches in length overall, with an 8-foot 6-inch beam and a 17-inch draft. Our test boat was equipped with a single 300 horsepower Mercury Verado outboard engine paired with a 14.25-inch diameter, 18-degree pitch, four-bladed Revolution propeller. The boat demonstrated a notably solid and stable feel, maintaining control even under aggressive maneuvering and delivering a smooth, dry ride through wakes. Fuel capacity is 111 gallons, and with three-quarters of a tank and two people aboard (total test weight 4,820 pounds), the boat achieved a top speed of 43.1 miles per hour at 5,950 RPM, consuming 29.8 gallons per hour and offering a range of 144 statute miles with a 10% fuel reserve. Preferred cruising speeds included 5,000 RPM for 37.3 miles per hour at 18.3 gallons per hour (203 miles range) and 4,000 RPM for 26.6 miles per hour at 10.2 gallons per hour (260 miles range). For water sports towing speeds between 18 and 23 miles per hour, fuel consumption was approximately 9 gallons per hour. The boat planes quickly, averaging 4 seconds to plane with no tabs and engine trimmed down, and accelerates from zero to 30 miles per hour in 8.6 seconds. A slight bow rise of 20 degrees upon acceleration is attributed to the torque of the four-bladed prop, which is advantageous for towing activities.

Handling and Maneuverability

Equipped with Mercury hydraulic power steering, the 230 Vantage offers effortless maneuvering even at high speeds. The boat exhibits excellent handling characteristics, gently rolling into and out of slalom turns with a sensation of hugging the water. The smoothness of the ride was so pronounced that handheld video footage captured without stabilization remained steady, underscoring the boat's refined performance.

Manufacturer Integration and Warranty

An important aspect of the 230 Vantage is the integration between Boston Whaler and Mercury, both manufactured by the Brunswick Corporation. This corporate alignment ensures unified responsibility for the boat and engine performance as well as warranty coverage, providing a cohesive ownership experience.

Conclusion

The Boston Whaler 230 Vantage is a well-rounded water sports and family boat that combines thoughtful design, solid construction, and strong performance. Its stable handling, quick acceleration, and comfortable helm make it a capable and enjoyable vessel for a variety of boating activities.
