Arguably the most famous modern boat design ever built, the 31 Bertram has achieved a near cult status. Designed by Ray Hunt and built by Richard Bertram, the 31 was in production for 25 years.
The 31 Bahia Mar has a large fishing cockpit and comfortable cabin accommodations with berths for four, and a stand up head.
This is an original 31 bahia mar. She has undergone tank removal and under deck refit and paint, has brand new glassteck cockpit has all teak trim and emblems intact and in good condition. Bottom was completely stripped and refinished. Powered with twin rebuilt Perkins 200 diesels with almost no hours on them, with an estimated cruise speed of 18 knots.
Perhaps the best features of the 31 are it's low center of gravity, large cockpit, deep-v hull, and hard chine, all of which make this boat one of the best fishing platforms on the water today. It is obvious that the 31 is designed essentially as a fishing boat and creature comforts were considered as secondary considerations. The 31 also makes an excellent dive boat.
Estimates are that, under 2,000 Bertram 31's were manufactured, and that somewhere in the vicinity of 90 percent of them are still in use.
