Twin 3208 Caterpillars! This classic and still regularly fished Bertram is owned by the Legendary Carlos Bentos - who fished this boat single handed in the 1996 White Marlin Open and was named Grand Champion Angler, Captain of the Year and Mate of the Year awards. The humble Caribeña was named Top Boat. Organizers officially recognized the feat as the most outstanding achievement in the history of the White Marlin Open.
Carlos swears this boat still brings the fish in and was still fished in Ocean City until last year. Come check out this Classic and well care for legendary boat. Looking for her next fisherman and caretaker.
Additionally he states:
"She has been served for decades by:
1) Alban Baltimore,
2.Edward's Marine OC
3)Alban in OC
4) Cook's Marine in HHNorth Deale MD
Since 2003 to 2018, by Mike Cook when he closed, like all the others.
I think that copies of the service records of EDWARD'S and COOK MARINE could be obtained since their sons kept
Servicing boats.
But something that I didn't know, but you should have, is that a simple and inexpensive "engine oil analysts (Blackstone Labs. 260-744-
2380) candiagnose the mechanical health of the engines!
For the record Caribena won a total of 38 Award tournaments and completions plus 3 Master rings, and I doubt that something similar could have been possible if the boat and its engines weren't performing very well ALL THE TIME.
Since the complete 3208's engines overhaul done in 1999 by Edward's Marine (a former ALBAN mechanic)
After that, Caribena won 5 consecutive "Best Boat of the Year) in the size up to 45 feet organized by OC MARLIN CLUB, from 1999 to 2003, the last year that I fished in OC.
Therefore, I guess -estimate that the engines may have around 2300 hrs since the overhaul. Since 2004"
