The powerful bold new-look Gran Turismo 36 is one of the most eagerly awaited boats to join the BENETEAU family. American-made, she is designed to USA standards, while benefiting from the design ingenuity and expertise specific to the BENETEAU brand. She is one of the first boats in her category to combine comfortable cruising with outstanding handling and sensations with optional outboard power.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
The exterior deck layout is fully optimized for comfort and entertaining on board. Two bench seats face forward at the helm station, so four people can enjoy the thrills of navigation. The electric sunroof allows the whole area to be bathed in pleasant natural light. The natural light extends to a spacious cockpit lounge area which has room for up to seven passengers. Cleverly interchangeable, the aft bench seats fold back and serve as headrests for the extensive sunbathing area facing aft. Cooking meals is a joy in the outdoor galley, which is just forward of the aft swim platform.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The forward peak has generous space for a real owner cabin with a full-sized bed and ample storage. The aft cabin provides two extra berths separated by a door for onboard guests. Midship you will find a cozy lounge to port with a functional galley space fitted with high quality appliances. A best in class head arrangement offers separate shower and toilet spaces completely partitioned from the vanity.

Our first Grand Turismo available with an optional outboard engine package, she presents 3 key attributes: design, accessibility, and performance.
The Gran Turismo 36 maintains the DNA of her range, with the addition of some innovative touches. A large built-in sun mattress on the foredeck provides a safe and very pleasant place to relax when the boat is underway. Overview
The Beneteau Gran Turismo 36 (GT36) is a thoughtfully engineered cruiser designed with versatility and performance in mind. Manufactured in Cadillac, Michigan, the GT36 is built from inception to accommodate either stern drives or outboard engines, with distinct hull molds tailored to each propulsion type. This approach ensures uncompromised operational characteristics regardless of power selection. The boat features a beam carried far forward, creating a narrow entry below the waterline that contributes to excellent handling.
Exterior Design and Deck Layout
The GT36’s exterior design emphasizes both functionality and safety. The hull design includes a 12-inch transom extension for outboard models, maintaining optimal performance. Side decks provide secure passage with angled rails standing 24 inches high and a 12-inch gap from the cabin sides, complemented by overhead grab handles and molded cabin top rails for added security. The bow features a squared-off design with extended beam, split rails for bow and boarding access, and a forward seating area. The anchor system includes a recessed anchor roller, a gas-strut assisted hatch, and a Lumar windlass with 100 feet of chain and 150 feet of rope stored in the anchor locker. High-mounted 11-inch cleats on the transom and bow enhance docking convenience.
Helm and Bridge Ergonomics
The helm station is starboard-mounted and well-equipped with two 11-inch Garmin multifunction displays, a compass aligned with the steering wheel, and a 5-inch Mercury VesselView display. Interior and Systems
Accessing the interior via the companionway reveals a well-organized systems area with battery switches, generator controls, 110-volt system switches, and 12-volt circuit breakers. Storage is abundant throughout the boat, including under seats and in spaces freed by the absence of stern drives. The 7.5 kW Westerbeke gas generator is conveniently housed below deck, eliminating the need for a separate fuel tank. Fuel capacity totals 200 gallons split evenly between two 100-gallon tanks. Additional equipment includes seawater filters for the generator and a fire suppression system, all arranged for easy access and maintenance.
Power and Performance
The GT36 is powered by twin 300 horsepower Mercury Verado outboard engines, with an option to upgrade to 350 horsepower. The boat planes quickly in 4.9 seconds and maintains planing down to 11.5 mph. Acceleration times include 8.4 seconds to 20 mph and 22.5 seconds to 30 mph. Handling is characterized by a stable, balanced feel with good water adhesion in turns, moderate lean, and a clean hull slicing through waves. Engine trim adjustments are necessary to optimize spray pattern and prevent prop ventilation due to the engines’ aft placement and balanced weight distribution.
