Maat is a 1991 Amel Santorin 46 sloop that has been owned and cruised by her current owners for the past seven years. During that time she has sailed from Brittany through the Mediterranean and on to the eastern and western Caribbean. She is now stored ashore at Peake Yacht Yard in Trinidad.
The Santorin was developed by Amel as a center-cockpit cruising yacht, and Maat is the sloop version with a single mast. Her interior has two private cabins and two heads, with an aft cabin, forward cabin, central saloon and galley to port. Tankage includes approximately 211 US gallons of fresh water, 87 US gallons of diesel and 11 US gallons of black water.
A number of the major cruising systems have been updated during the current ownership. The standing rigging was replaced in 2022, and the sail inventory includes a 2022 genoa, 2021 Hydranet Solent sail, mainsail, ballooner and spare mainsail. Both the mainsail and genoa have electric furling, and the boat retains the twin poles used for the genoa and ballooner.
Navigation equipment has also been updated and includes Raymarine Axiom 9-inch chartplotters at the cockpit and interior navigation station, Raymarine Quantum Doppler radar, AIS700 Class B AIS, i70s wind instrumentation and two Raymarine autopilot drives. Communications equipment includes fixed and handheld Icom VHF radios, Iridium satellite communications and Starlink.
The electrical system includes a 600Ah LiFePO4 house battery bank installed in 2020, approximately 1,000W of solar panels, two Victron Bluetooth MPPT controllers, a Victron MultiPlus 3000W inverter/charger and Victron Orion. A 70A alternator was installed in 2026.
Cruising equipment includes a Schenker ZEN 30 watermaker installed in 2022, Eberspächer 4kW diesel air heater, 12V refrigeration, separate freezer, electric and gas cooking equipment, 20-liter water heater and a hardtop bimini with shade curtains that can be fully enclosed. The ground tackle includes a 33kg Rocna primary anchor with 80m of 10mm chain and a Lofrans Tigres 1500W windlass.
Maat is powered by the original 50 hp Perkins Prima M50 diesel coupled to the Amel C-Drive. Recorded engine hours are approximately 4,610. Recent engine work includes a heat exchanger in 2020, waterlock muffler in 2023, thermostat, timing belt and internal water pump in 2025, and alternator in 2026.
The hull received a complete osmosis treatment in 2024. Other equipment includes a bow thruster, dinghy davits, Highfield Classic 260 tender, 2023 Tohatsu 9.8 hp two-stroke outboard and 2022 Torqeedo 1103 CS electric outboard.
Maat is currently stored ashore at Peake Yacht Yard in Trinidad.

Owner's Comments and Boat History
We are the fifth owners of this boat. Before purchasing her, she had completed one Atlantic circuit and sailed extensively along the coast of Brittany, France.
During our ownership, we made numerous upgrades, including modifications to the dinghy davits and liferaft locker, the addition of a hardtop bimini, a second autopilot, and a watermaker. We replaced the navigation electronics, upgraded the house battery bank to LiFePO4, and renewed the genoa, Solent staysail, and standing rigging. In 2024, the hull underwent a complete osmosis treatment.
We originally chose this boat for her practical layout, five watertight compartments, center cockpit, absence of teak decking, skeg-supported rudder, tubular deck rails, and overall offshore cruising design.
For seven years, she was our comfortable and secure home. We sailed from Brittany to the Mediterranean before continuing across the Atlantic to explore both the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
She may not be the fastest boat, but she is particularly comfortable in stronger conditions. When other boats begin reefing, she remains well balanced and reassuring. With the genoa and ballooner set on their poles, providing approximately 120m² of downwind sail area, speeds of eight knots are not unusual.
We have always been conservative sailors, prioritizing safety, comfort, and reliability throughout our travels.
When we stored the boat in Trinidad in May 2026, we intended to resume cruising in November. However, a change in family circumstances has led us to cancel those plans and offer her for sale.
