Bertram has a well-deserved reputation for building rugged, high-quality, well-built boats. Flush deck motor yachts like the Bertram 42 are seldom seen these days, but back in the day this was the way most motor yachts were designed. With her traditional lines and solid fiberglass construction, the Bertram 42 is one of the few motor yachts her size built on a deep-V hull. By today's standards, the interior floorplan of the 42 is very unusual; the large mid-level galley is forward and includes a new full-size stainless steel refrigerator with three-burner stove and oven. A hallway to starboard opens to the forward v-berth cabin with private head and shower. The salon features an all-teak interior which has recently been refinished and has been upgraded with two new Lazy Boy recliners, a loveseat with pullout mattress and a large Samsung flat-screen TV. Aft of the salon is the full beam master stateroom with two full-size memory foam beds, private head and shower, vanity, and large hanging lockers. With her proven deep-V hull, the Bertram 42 can handle sea conditions that keep other motor yachts her size in port. This vessel is powered with the original twin Detroit Diesel 6-71TI engines with approximately 904 and 847 original hours on them and she cruises at 21 knots. Original Onan diesel generator with 810 hours on it. She has spent her entire life in fresh water or in heated storage.
Entering the aft deck through either the starboard or port side wing doors, you will find a large open area with full hardtop. Isinglass surrounds the entire back deck and helm area. On the port side of the aft deck there is a wetbar area with mini-fridge, sink and bottle storage. The helm is to starboard. You enter the salon through the main door on the port side. Once inside the salon you will find a spacious lounging area with large windows, teak & holly flooring, two comfortable recliners and a cozy loveseat that also contains a hide-a-bed mattress.
Forward of the salon is a spacious full-beam galley with large double-sink, 3-burner Princess stove/oven, microwave and a new full-size stainless steel refridgerator/freezer. Lots of space and storage make this galley a very workable space for creating yhoe on-board meals.
To starboard of the galley is the companionway forward to the guest head and guest berth accomodations. This area is very spacious and features a large storage closet that could be used to house a washer/dryer combo if desired. The head features a Vacuflush toilet, sink and "wet" shower.
Moving back toward the aft end of the boat, you will find a stairway to port that lead you to the large full-beam master stateroom. This is probably the most unique aspect of this vessel. The master stateroom contains two full-size beds on either side with a large floorspace in between them. This area accomodates a full-sze dresser and the stateroom has numerous hanging lockers and storage areas as well. The master stateroom also encludes a private ensuite head with a Vacuflush toilet, sink and large stall shower with shower door.
The helm contains full instrumention gauges and controls for both engines, a Garmin GPS Map5212 electronics with Garmin HD Radar, a Interphase forward-looking sonar, a Standard Horizon AIS marine radio and a Dual Electronics AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo system.
This vessel is powered by twin Detroit Diesel 6-71TI diesel engines. These are the original engines with port engine showing 847 hours and the starboard engine showing 904 hours. The generator is a Onan 7kw diesel generator with 810 hour on it.
