If you are looking for near perfection in a pocket sailboat, you might mistake Miigwan as a new boat right out of the box. It is that nice. Designed by Herb Stewart and Ken Lange and built by International Marine, the Voyager 20 is an upgrade from the iconic West Wight Potter 19 also built by International Marine. The Voyager is more refined, more robust, more sophisticated and more sea-kindly capable of coastal cruising yet maintaining the utility of a trailerable boat. She offers more comfort and structural integrity and her shoal draft eliminates the centerboard trunk for which Potters were known. No bisecting the cabin with a lifting keel. Her 605 lbs of ballast is contained in the hull. At less than 2' of draft, the boat is easily launched and retrieved from most any ramp. Her mast is easily stepped on deck with the use of the hinge and the fractional rig makes for easy sail handling. The standing rigging is like new and the color coded running rigging looks like they just came off the spool. Down below she has a clean finish with wood trim. Removable cabin table. She will sleep up to 4 adults. There's a galley with a stove. Under sail the centerboard in the lowered position offers good windward performance and off the wind the board can be retracted into the hybrid shoal keel design. She's balanced and handles predictably. She performs admirably off the wind and tracks well to windward due to the lift generated by the centerboard. In comparison to the Potters, the Voyager is relatively scarce and clean examples are highly sought after by knowledgeable pocket cruising aficionados. When they do appear on the market, they command a significant premium over trailer sailors of similar lengths.
