At Ease is a beautifully maintained and extensively upgraded 2003 Nordic Tug 32+ that has recently proven her capabilities in the most meaningful way possible-by successfully completing more than 6,600 miles of America's Great Loop. From the inland rivers of the Midwest to the locks of the Erie Canal, through the St. Lawrence Seaway and around the entirety of Lake Michigan, At Ease has demonstrated exactly why the Nordic Tug 32+ is regarded as one of the finest cruising boats in her class.
For the cruising couple seeking comfort, efficiency, safety, and simplicity, it is difficult to imagine a better platform. Her single Cummins Diamond Series 6BTA 5.9 diesel has accumulated just 2,191 original hours and provides the legendary reliability and fuel economy that have made this engine one of the most respected marine diesels ever built. Bow and stern thrusters make docking and lock operations remarkably simple, while modern electronics, solar charging capability, inverter power, and extensive upgrades allow comfortable cruising far beyond the marina.
The Nordic Tug 32+ represented a major evolution of an already successful design. Introduced in 2002, the "+" model brought significant improvements including a centerline island berth, enlarged head compartment with separate shower, redesigned galley with under-counter refrigeration and freezer, expanded salon space, and an integrated swim platform that increased both overall length and waterline length.
The result is a vessel that feels considerably larger than her dimensions suggest while retaining the efficiency, ease of handling, and rugged seaworthiness that made Nordic Tug famous.
Whether your plans include America's Great Loop, the Great Lakes, the Tennessee River system, the Chesapeake Bay, New England, or simply comfortable weekends aboard, At Ease is equipped and ready for the adventure.
Currently located at Goose Pond Marina in Scottsboro, Alabama.
- 2019 Highfield 290
The private master stateroom is located forward and features the highly desirable centerline island berth introduced with the Nordic Tug 32+ redesign. This arrangement provides easy access from both sides of the bed while creating a far more spacious feel than traditional V-berth configurations. The master features a custom mattress with foam topper, three opening screened portlights, an overhead screened hatch, hanging locker storage, and abundant cabinetry.
Immediately aft is the spacious head compartment featuring a Techma electric macerating toilet, vanity with sink, mirror, storage cabinetry, hot and cold pressure water, and a dedicated shower area. An opening screened portlight provides natural ventilation.
Three steps up brings you to the raised pilothouse. One of the signature features of the Nordic Tug design, the pilothouse provides commanding visibility in all directions and direct access to both side decks through sliding port and starboard doors.
Moving aft and down two steps is the salon and galley area. Large Diamond Sea-Glaze windows provide abundant natural light while creating excellent visibility from throughout the interior. A recently reupholstered L-shaped settee converts into additional sleeping accommodations when needed.
From the salon, a hinged door provides access to the cockpit, swim platform, lazarette, and boat deck. Strategically placed handrails throughout the vessel provide safe and secure movement whether underway or at anchor.
Additional electronics include a Raymarine Tridata instrument displaying depth and water temperature, Standard Horizon VHF radio, AIS transceiver with dedicated antenna installed in 2022, Danforth Corsair III compass, navigation lighting, and an AFI dual trumpet electric horn installed in 2019.
Entertainment is provided through a Fusion MS-RA205 stereo system with Sirius capability, auxiliary input, and salon remote control.
Power is provided by the highly respected Cummins Diamond Series 6BTA 5.9M diesel engine rated at 270 horsepower. With just 2,191 original hours, this engine remains well within the service life expected of the legendary 5.9-liter Cummins platform. Power is delivered through a Twin Disc MG-5049 transmission and a Michigan Wheel four-blade propeller.
Additional mechanical equipment includes Walker AirSep filtration, dual Racor fuel filtration systems for the main engine, dedicated Racor filtration for the generator, a Reverso oil change system, PSS dripless shaft seal, Morse electronic controls, Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic steering, engine block heater, Fireboy automatic fire suppression system, automatic emergency engine shutdown system, Rule high-water alarm, TankWatch monitoring system, and engine alarm system.
Climate control is provided by dual-zone MarineAir reverse-cycle heat and air conditioning systems consisting of 12,000 and 16,000 BTU units with digital controls. The vessel also benefits from engine-supplied cabin heat for cool weather cruising.
Docking and maneuvering are made exceptionally easy through a Sleipner Side-Power bow thruster and Vetus stern thruster installed in 2017.
Electrical power away from the dock is provided by an Onan 5kW generator housed within a sound shield and showing only 249 hours.
Recent upgrades include a new Cummins starter, air conditioning raw water pump, and Kuma water heater, all installed in 2025.
A Xantrex 3,000-watt inverter and four solar panels producing approximately 490 watts provide outstanding off-grid capability. The solar system is managed through a Victron controller installed in 2022 and supplies power to dedicated inverter circuits.
Electrical storage consists of four 6-volt house batteries, dedicated engine start battery, generator start battery, and separate thruster and windlass batteries. All primary battery banks were replaced in July 2025. Battery monitoring systems, battery parallel capabilities, LED lighting throughout, and numerous 12-volt outlets further enhance the vessel's cruising capabilities.
The vessel features a bow pulpit with anchor roller, stainless steel railings, non-skid fiberglass decks, windshield wipers and washers, windshield defrosters, swim platform, swim ladder, cockpit hot and cold shower, freshwater washdown, and built-in cockpit storage box.
Solar screens provide shade and heat reduction throughout the pilothouse while custom window treatments enhance privacy and comfort.
With a bridge clearance of approximately 13 feet 6 inches, At Ease is ideally suited for America's Great Loop and inland cruising adventures.
At Ease embodies everything that has made the Nordic Tug 32+ one of the most respected cruising boats ever built. She has already completed the adventure that many buyers dream about, logging more than 6,600 miles around America's Great Loop while proving herself to be a comfortable, economical, and trustworthy cruising companion.
