VELVET is a custom aluminum long-keeler, designed by renowned naval architect Dick Koopmans Sr. and Hutting Yachts in collaboration with legendary Porsche designer Anatole Lapine. Offering timeless design, exquisite Dutch craftsmanship, and true offshore capability, this remarkable yacht offers a pilothouse layout, two berths, and two heads, providing outstanding comfort for adventurous couples seeking extended cruising in both tropical and high-latitude destinations the world over.
Upon her arrival to the US, Velvet was meticulously maintained by Tom Morris and the artisans at Morris Yachts of Bass Harbor, ME until 2011. Under long term ownership by an extremely knowledgable yachting couple, she had been lightly used throughout her life. The yacht completed an Atlantic crossing in 1995 before being stored indoors at Morris Yachts in Bass Harbor, ME followed by Hinckley Yachts, Stuart Florida. Since 2011, she has enjoyed seasonal winter cruising in the Bahamas and has been carefully stored under cover when not in use, preserving her Bristol condition.
A true one-of-one Hutting 40, she stands apart from anything else on the market. Her distinctive exterior lines attract attention wherever she goes, while the custom interior reflects the same individuality, craftsmanship, and character that make this yacht so special.
Currently lying in Ft. Pierce, Florida, the yacht is available for private and virtual Showings. Online tours are highly recommended, as the current photographs do not fully capture the quality, detailing, and outstanding condition of Hutting 40 VELVET.
