Construction and Design

The hull, superstructure, and decks are all made from single female vacuum-bagged molds. Cook gelcoat is used on all exterior surfaces. Knytex fiberglass is hand-laid throughout. Below the waterline the hull is solid fiberglass with vinylester resins used in the outer layers. Aramid fiber is incorporated in high-impact areas. Closed-cell PVC core is used above the waterline to add resiliency as well as acoustic and thermal insulation.

The Krogen Pure Full Displacement (PFD) hull form provides exceptional efficiency, economy, and sea handling. Some of the Krogen characteristics include:

  • True full-displacement design for sea kindliness and comfort
  • A hull form ideally suited for hydraulic stabilization
  • End-to-end symmetry making a Krogen the most efficient hull to push through the water, and giving excellent directional stability in following seas
  • A full centerline keel with large attached rudder protecting the running gear
Saloon

LIMERICK has a completely covered aft deck which is truly an extension of her inviting saloon. From the aft deck, the saloon is entered through double welded aluminum weather-tight doors. Because the aft deck and saloon are on one level, there are no steps to navigate. The port side of the saloon includes 2 Ekornes stressless chairs with side table and ottomans, cabinet storage, ice maker, bookshelves and server. To starboard is an L-shaped leather settee with ample storage underneath, a hi-lo fold out table, a storage cabinet, and an entertainment center forward.

Natural ventilation and light abound with large opening windows port, starboard, and in the aft bulkhead. Each window has screens, a teak valance, and curtains. There is also a fitted and bound carpet throughout the saloon.

Galley

LIMERICK'S galley is forward of the saloon on the starboard side. The galley is open-faced, allowing the chef the opportunity to socialize with family and friends while preparing meals. Major galley components include:

  • Force 10 3-burner propane stove with oven
  • Vitrifrigo dual voltage refrigerator / freezer (New 2022)
  • Large single stainless steel sink with FM Mattsson fixture and filtered water spigot
  • G.E. Microwave oven
  • Corian "Shara" countertops
  • Raritan ice maker
  • Seagull water purification system plumbed to the galley sink and ice maker
  • Large stainless steel opening port
Master Stateroom

LIMERICK'S Master Stateroom is forward to take advantage of natural ventilation while at anchor. The Krogen hull does not have any spray rails or chines forward. This hull design eliminates the wave slap found in many other hull designs and assures a peaceful night's sleep. The natural ventilation comes from four (4) large opening stainless steel ports with removable privacy covers, and an overhead hatch.

The queen-size centerline berth with custom mattress allows access from both sides and provides voluminous storage underneath. There are hanging lockers port and starboard, and a mirrored vanity with additional drawer storage.

Because the chain locker on LIMERICK is accessed through a watertight hatch on the fore deck, the forward bulkhead in the Master Stateroom is solid. This design keeps out the heat, humidity, and odors typically associated with an interior chain locker access.

Guest Cabin / Office

The Guest Cabin / Office is on the starboard side immediately aft of the Master Stateroom. This cabin is perfect for a little quiet time with a good book or your favorite on-board hobby. The desk allows you to take care of your bookkeeping and computer chores, and the lighted bookshelf is both functional and fashionable. The leather settee converts to a double berth when guests are aboard, and there is a convenient step-through insulated door to the engine room. There are two (2) stainless steel opening ports with removable privacy covers, and drawer and hanging locker storage.

Head

The head is opposite the Guest Cabin / Office. There is a large stall shower with molded seat, bi-fold door, and stainless steel opening port. The Raritan "Marine Elegance" toilet (New 2024) uses fresh water, thereby eliminating many of the odors often associated with a marine head. It is very frugal when it comes to water usage.

There is a Corian vanity with under-sink storage, large mirrored medicine cabinet, corner storage cabinet, and another stainless steel opening port.

Pilothouse

Up and forward from the Saloon / Galley area is the raised pilothouse which serves not only as a proper operations center, but also has room for friends and family. The captain will enjoy the Stidd leather helm chair (new upholstery 2025), and visitors will appreciate the leather settee with adjustable table. The Pilothouse has its own zone of reverse cycle air conditioning, but if you prefer natural ventilation, there are two (2) overhead hatches, two (2) opening ports, and welded aluminum Dutch doors port and starboard. When you have extra guests aboard, the settee converts to a double berth.

The Dutch doors provide quick and easy access to the exterior decks, and because LIMERICK features the popular Widebody configuration, there is convenient access to the Boat Deck and Flybridge just aft of the port side door.
