2004 Wellcraft 290 Coastal - Orlando Florida
The Wellcraft 290 Coastal is the perfect combination for the fisherman that also enjoys creature comforts. This vessel comes standard with Mercury or Yamaha 225 horsepower, but was re-powered with twin Suzuki 300s clocking only 198 hours. Unlike its standard struggle to get on plane, this boat jumps out of the hole immediately.
Travel with ease - this boat is equioed with a new aluminum triple axle trailer, brakes and lines were just serviced.
All of the upholstery has been redone, inside and out. Every soft-good looks like it came out of the factory.

Why Someone Should Buy a Wellcraft 290 Coastal1. It’s One of the Best “Do Everything” Boats in Its Class
The 290 Coastal is extremely versatile. It can:
- Fish offshore comfortably
- Cruise with family and friends
- Handle overnight trips
- Serve as a dive platform
- Spend weekends at the sandbar
Very few boats under 30 feet balance fishing performance and cruising comfort this well.
2. Outboard Power Is a Major Advantage
Twin outboards are easier and less expensive to maintain than many inboard or stern-drive setups. They also:
- Improve reliability
- Provide better fuel efficiency with modern four-strokes
- Make servicing easier
- Offer shallow-water flexibility
Many buyers specifically seek outboard-powered cabin boats because they are uncommon and highly desirable.
3. Excellent Offshore Capability
The Wellcraft hull design has a strong reputation for handling chop and rough coastal conditions well. The deep-V hull and heavy construction provide:
- Stable ride offshore
- Dry ride with the hardtop and windshield
- Confidence in rougher seas
This makes it ideal for:
- Gulf Stream trips
- Offshore fishing
- Long coastal runs
4. Huge Cockpit Space
Compared to many express cruisers, the 290 Coastal gives you significantly more usable fishing and entertaining space in the cockpit.
That means:
- More room for anglers
- Easier movement around the boat
- Better setup for diving or entertaining
5. Overnight Comfort Without Going to a Large Yacht
The cabin is surprisingly roomy for a 29-footer and includes:
- Sleeping accommodations for multiple people
- Full head
- Galley amenities
- Air conditioning on many boats
It gives buyers the ability to weekend comfortably without stepping into the much higher cost category of larger express cruisers.
6. Strong Value for the Money
Compared to brands like Grady-White, Pursuit, or Albemarle, the Wellcraft 290 Coastal often delivers:
- Similar functionality
- Comparable offshore performance
- More features per dollar
Used models commonly represent strong value in the offshore fishing/cruising market.
Ideal Buyer for a 2004 Wellcraft 290 Coastal
This boat is perfect for someone who wants:
- A serious offshore fishing platform
- A family-friendly cabin boat
- Overnight capability
