2010 Larson 288 LXi -- Big-Water Style. Family-Day Comfort.
Larson built a reputation on durable fiberglass, thoughtful layouts, and a ride that feels more expensive than the price tag. The 288 LXi is that idea at full size: a 29'2" bowrider with a 9' beam, SofRide modified-V hull, and the kind of fit-and-finish that made LXi the brand's upscale sportboat line. Stainless hardware, integrated fiberglass flooring, pop-up cleats, and a gelcoat-and-graphics package that still looks right on the water.
The layout is why people linger. Forward, deep bow seating with three storage compartments and filler cushions turns the nose into a lounge. Midship, deluxe S2 sport buckets swivel, slide, and flip up so the helm stays comfortable whether you're standing or sitting.
Aft, a U-shaped cockpit with side storage and a center cooler wraps the crowd, then opens to a full-width sundeck with a center walk-through to the swim platform. That platform is the social hub: four-step boarding ladder, transom storage, ski-tow pylons, and easy water access for swimming, tubing, or just hanging off the back.
Day-cruise details are built in, not bolted on. Enclosed changing room with electric china head. Corian counter, sink, and on-demand water. Snap-in carpet, cockpit table with two bases, 14 stainless cup holders, and a six-speaker AM/FM stereo with MP3/iPod input and helm remote. Depth finder, hydraulic trim tabs, dual-battery switch, windlass with stainless anchor, docking lights, and a full gauge package keep the boat usable, not just pretty.
Power is sterndrive I/O 320 hp through a 100-gallon fuel tank -- enough range for a long Saturday without constantly hunting a pump. Fresh water is 20 gallons; waste is 12.5. Capacity is about 1,850 lbs. Draft with the drive down is 39 inches. Trailer LOA is roughly 34'9", so it still lives in the "towable big bowrider" category rather than becoming a project.
This is the boat for weekends that mix performance and people: wake runs in the morning, lunch at the table, sun on the pad, swim off the platform, music in the cockpit.
Larson's VEC process and SofRide hull were meant to deliver a smoother, more consistent ride than a typical runabout of the era -- and the 288 LXi still sells that story.
