A solar-electric motor yacht on two shaft-driven electric motors and a 240 kWh battery bank, with unlimited range at 5 to 6 knots.
Charged by the sun, or the shore
Whisper developed the boat over four years, with batteries charged from solar panels, a back-up generator or directly from the shore power socket. Forty square metres of solar panels feed a 240 kWh bank of three 80 kWh packs.
Two motors on shaft lines
Two electric motors drive shaft lines, fed by the 240 kWh battery pack. Whisper claims 90 per cent savings on maintenance against combustion engines, because electric propulsion needs no exhaust, no gearbox and no mechanical movements.

Twelve knots, or as far as you like at six
At full speed Whisper quotes 12 knots, and unlimited range at 5 to 6 knots. The yard says the hull's profile, length, width and draft ratio were chosen to minimise resistance, with the aft sections raised to keep the propellers working horizontally.
A yacht that opens or closes
Sliding transverse doors and a window lift let the whole yacht be closed or opened. Whisper lists a 360-degree sea view, an enclosed aft cockpit and a full-beam swimming platform 7.5 metres across.
