Watch the Reach Tool work

Three minutes, start to finish, on a real listing. Someone using it, not a slideshow about it.

3:02Every step at real speed, including the two things that go wrong most often: not being signed in, and opening the tool on a page that is not a listing.

Three steps, then publish

The Reach Tool does the copying. You keep the final say.

  1. 1

    Open your listing

Start with a boat you have already published on MarineSource.

  2. 2

    Choose a destination

Click the Reach Tool and pick the marketplace or social platform.

  3. 3

    Review and publish

Finish anything it flags, check the listing, and publish it yourself.

Also built in

  • Export a PDF flyer

Click the Reach Tool again on a listing and it produces a printable flyer for that boat.

  • Send it to Canva

Or copy the listing straight into Canva and design your own.

Questions and quick fixes

About the tool

  • What does it cost?

Nothing. It is free from the Chrome Web Store, and it is the Preview Edition, so expect it to grow.

  • Which browsers does it work in?

Google Chrome. Safari and Firefox will load the store page but cannot install anything from it, so install Chrome first.

The MarineSource Reach Tool page in the Chrome Web Store, with the blue Add to Chrome button on the right
  • Where can it post a boat?

These are the destinations the Preview Edition guide shows. The popup scrolls, so your copy may offer more than this.

    Boat marketplaces

    • Sherpa
    • YachtCloser
    • BoatWizard
    • YachtBroker
    • Craigslist
    • Ebay
    • YatcoBoss
    • OnlyInBoards

    Social platforms

    • Facebook
    • Instagram
    • LinkedIn
    • Threads
    • X (Twitter)

Facebook asks first where the boat goes: Post to Marketplace, Post to Page, Post to Group.

  • Does it publish the listing for me?

No, and that is deliberate. It fills the form and stops. It will not press Submit or Share, so you check the listing over and publish it yourself.

  • Do I need accounts on the other sites?

Yes. It fills in their forms using your own account. It does not create accounts for you, and you need to be signed in to each site before you post to it.

Troubleshooting

  • The popup says “There is no available boats”.

You are not on a boat listing page, or the tool has not read it yet. Open a single listing, the page showing year, make, model and price, then click the refresh icon in the popup. On any other page that message is expected, not an error.

  • It shows a welcome screen instead of my boat.

It is not connected to your account yet. Click Go to MarineSource, sign in on the website, then come back and click Refresh Profile. You are done when the popup shows a row of tabs: Current Boat, Profile, and either History or Inventory depending on your version.

  • I cannot see the Reach Tool icon in my toolbar.

Click the puzzle-piece icon to the right of the address bar to show every installed extension, then click the pushpin next to MarineSource Listing Hub Reach Tool so it turns blue. If it is not in that list at all, the install did not finish, so run through it again.

The pinned MarineSource icon in the Chrome toolbar, just left of the puzzle-piece icon, with the Reach Tool popup open below it
  • It opened the other site but did not fill anything in.

You are not signed in to that site. Sign in there, then click the destination in the popup again. It happens on every destination, not just Facebook.

  • It says it could not fill in some fields.

That is the tool telling you what is left, not a failure. An Issues Detected panel names each field it could not complete. In the guide’s own example it is the fuel type, which Facebook offers only as a dropdown. Fill those in by hand, then publish.
