The NEW J/36 offers the style and comfort of a well-appointed cruiser with the race-winning performance of the J/112E - a design that's been winning hearts and silverware around the world since 2016. The new name comes with a new deck, new cockpit, and new styling to provide more cruising appeal and sailing versatility.
With the J/36, legendary performance meets true cruising comfort in a modern 36-footer that’s easy to sail and easy to own. The J/36 joins the J/40 and J/45 to form the new range of offshore, performance cruiser/racers from J/Boats. In just a few seasons, her sistership, the J/112E, managed to win several prestigious international events:
- Double winner of the ORC World Championship
- Winner of the ORC European Championship
- Winner of the IRC European Championship
- Winner of the Trophée Atlantique in IRC
- Triple winner of Cowes Week
- Double winner of Round the Island (UK)
- Double winner of the Chicago-Mackinac Race
- Double winner of the Bayview-Mackinac Race
Below deck, the J/36 takes interior comfort to a new level with a spacious and bright two cabin/aft head layout to accommodate two couples or a family with children. The varnished mahogany joinerwork adds classic warm wood accents. The large cabin ports and bright surfaces provide abundant natural light and ventilation to enhance the sense of open space below.
The evolution of the J/36 lies in its newly designed deck. The cockpit features fingertip twin-wheel steering, same-level walk-thru transom boarding, and comfortable cockpit seating. The same refined ergonomics that make the J/36 ideal for cruising also improve crew efficiency for racing. All essential sail controls lead to the cockpit and, as with all J's, the helmsperson can also trim the mainsail for easy solo sailing.
Sailing "comfort" means sailing without stress – as in having clear visibility from the helm; easy access to sail controls; a smooth sea-kindly motion that reduces fatigue; numerous handholds and foot braces for secure movement; and a highly maneuverable boat that’s easy to moor in tight spots. Sailboats that inspire confidence (and reduce stress) reward their owners with more enjoyable and memorable sailing experiences. That's the J/36.
