Atoka V is a proven Krogen 39 cruising trawler that balances value, space, and functionality with the livability and seaworthiness that a Kadey-Krogen yacht is known for.
With a cruising range of over 2,400 nautical miles at 7.5 knots, Atoka V is worthy of long-distance journeys like the Great Loop or Caribbean cruising, but also approachable enough in size to simply be a comfortable cruiser around your local waters. Powered by a single-shaft John Deere engine, with a Northern Lights generator. For ease of handling, it features both a bow thruster and a new-for-2025 stern thruster to simplify docking. Designed as a full-displacement trawler, Atoka V offers a stable and seaworthy ride, plus additional active fin stabilizers for comfort.
The accommodation features a one-cabin, one-head design. An island queen berth in the owner's cabin, a convertible settee in the saloon that can be an additional single berth, and a convertible settee in the pilothouse for extra sleeping space or a watch berth. The galley is nicely appointed size with plenty of space for food preparation and storage, with all the essential appliances within easy reach. This also is the only Krogen 39 ever built with European cherry wood, still used on new builds, which gives the space a lighter feel over teak. The interior features recent upgrades for 2025, including brand new cushions, covers, window treatments, and custom-cut bed covers.
Other notable features of the Krogen 39 include a bright and beautiful raised pilothouse that serves as a central hub for navigation, a stand-up engine room, providing easier access for maintenance, a flybridge, a fully covered aft cockpit for additional outdoor living.

Boattest.com Review
Overview
The Krogan 39 is a displacement hull cruiser designed with blue water capabilities, offering a practical and comfortable experience for couples. This trawler emphasizes ease of handling, seaworthiness, and extended range, making it suitable for long-distance cruising with minimal crew.
Exterior Design and Deck Layout
The exterior of the Krogan 39 reflects thoughtful design for cruising couples. The bow features a sturdy pulpit and large welded stainless steel railing, providing secure handholds when working with tackle. A windlass simplifies anchor handling. The covered aft deck offers a comfortable lounging area, with a large transom door leading to a fiberglass swim platform. High bulwarks enhance safety and privacy. To port, a slatter leads to the boat deck and flybridge. The boat deck measures 11 feet by 12.5 feet, accommodating a large dinghy with ease. A mast and boom rigging facilitate effortless launching and retrieval of the dinghy. Forward of the boat deck is the flybridge, equipped with seating on either side of the helm and storage beneath. The helm area is uncluttered, containing only essential controls, and is accessed through a watertight aluminum door.
Interior Living Spaces
Inside, the salon is both cozy and functional, illuminated by ample windows that provide ventilation and natural light, complemented by bright teak finishes. To port, bench-style seating and an L-shaped settee to starboard both convert into bunks with additional storage underneath. A teak handrail on the ceiling offers secure support underway. Forward of the settee, a bookcase serves as a versatile desk or storage for provisions. The U-shaped galley to starboard is open to the salon, enhancing functionality. It includes a three-burner stove with oven and a 6.3 cubic foot refrigerator, suitable for extended voyages.
Pilothouse and Navigation
Accessed by three steps up from the salon, the pilothouse features an open layout that keeps all operational controls within easy reach, facilitating efficient handling by two people. The helm provides sweeping 360-degree views and ample space for electronics both above and below. To port, there is a dedicated area for charts and logs, while electronic switches and breakers are conveniently located near the helm.
Private Accommodations and Head
The master stateroom is located in the forepeak and includes two hanging lockers and multiple drawers for storage. Five portholes and a large overhead hatch ensure excellent ventilation and natural light. Adjacent to the stateroom is the head, which features a standing shower with teak flooring and bi-fold doors, as well as a vacuum flush household toilet. The design provides standing headroom and easy access to machinery, complemented by a built-in workbench that facilitates maintenance.
Specifications and Performance
The Krogan 39 measures 43 feet 8 inches in overall length, with a beam of 14 feet 3 inches and a draft of 4 feet 3 inches. It has a displacement of 33,470 pounds at half load, including 2,000 pounds of encapsulated lead ballast. Fuel capacity is 700 gallons, and fresh water capacity is 300 gallons. During sea trials in 2 to 3 foot swells, the vessel demonstrated authoritative handling. The use of stabilizers significantly reduced rolling motion. At 1,750 RPM, the boat achieved a speed of 8.3 miles per hour with a range of 2,615 miles, underscoring its capability for offshore cruising.
Conclusion
The Krogan 39 combines offshore performance, safety, and interior comfort in a design tailored for cruising couples. Its practical features, spacious accommodations, and robust seaworthiness make it a reliable choice for extended voyages or global circumnavigation.
