The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 2003 Mainship 390 Trawler is a popular choice among cruising enthusiasts, known for its classic trawler style and practical design. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Stable and Comfortable Ride: The displacement hull provides a smooth and stable cruising experience, ideal for long-distance voyages and coastal cruising.

Spacious Interior: The 390 offers a roomy salon and well-laid-out living quarters, including a comfortable master stateroom and guest accommodations.

Fuel Efficiency: Designed for economical cruising, the Mainship 390 delivers good fuel economy at moderate speeds, making it cost-effective for extended trips.

Large Flybridge: The expansive flybridge offers excellent visibility and plenty of seating, perfect for socializing and enjoying the outdoors while underway.

Sturdy Construction: Known for solid build quality, the 390 Trawler features a robust fiberglass hull and reliable mechanical systems.

Good Storage: Ample storage compartments throughout the boat allow for organized stowing of gear and provisions.

Cons

Moderate Top Speed: With a focus on efficiency rather than speed, the 390 Trawler’s cruising speed is modest, which may not suit those looking for faster passages.

Aging Systems: Being a 2003 model, some onboard systems and electronics may require updating or maintenance to meet modern standards.

Limited Headroom in Some Areas: Certain parts of the interior, such as below-deck passageways, may have lower headroom, which could be less comfortable for taller individuals.

Maneuverability: Like many trawlers with displacement hulls, tight maneuvering in marinas can be challenging without bow thrusters or experienced handling.

Interior Style: The traditional wood-heavy interior design may feel dated to buyers seeking a more contemporary look.

Designed for those who value spacious living quarters, easy handling, and fuel efficiency, this trawler suits couples or small families looking to explore coastal waters or enjoy leisurely weekend getaways.
