Designed by naval architect Ed Dubois and build by Henri Wauquiez (FRA) from 1990 to 1993, this 1992 Centurion 45 was bought by the second owner out of a brief company charter - thus the rare brown strip.
A popular model among cruisers looking for performance, the Centurion designs; 42, 45, 47 and 49 models were all fast racer-cruisers. They were built in the Wauquiez (Chantier) or boatyard in NE France, Neuville en Ferrain, near the Belgium border. These strong and safe, seaworthy ocean boats were sloop-rigged, with a fin keel designs long before Beneteau bought Wauquiez. Ed Dubois extended his 42 hull to make the Centurion 45, keeping the successful 3-cabin, 2-head design, while adding a "Mediterranean stern entrance" for a bit more waterline and speed.
Cruised by an experienced sailor, this fine boat has "Hasse" Port Townsend sails, including a beautiful gold asymmetric spinnaker, with a double-spreader aluminum mast w/ rod rigging. The diesel is a clean Beta 50 with wonderful access, Balmar alternator, powering a 20" 3-blade MaxProp. With Mexico experience, of course there's shade protection and air conditioning. Check out the very livable galley, gracious salon with impressive storage and all three cabins: V-berth, crew cabin, and aft cabin w/ head. Known for their seaworthiness and strong construction, Wauquiez's sailboats consistently deliver swift-sailing, maneuverable designs, and hold their value. Don't miss this one! If you are seriously looking for a great offshore sailboat, La Volante Frances Jane might be your ticket. . .
