Buyer questions answered

Answers to boat questions, round 2

1. The sails were replaced in September 2005. They are Hood Vectran and are in good used

condition. The jib has the original self tacking camber spar set up. The main has three

reefs and is set up with single line reefing from the cockpit for the first and second reefs.

To use the third reef you would have to shift one of the existing reef lines or add

another line.

2. I purchased the boat in 2001. My wife and I are aging.

3. The engine does not have an hour meter. It starts promptly and runs well.

4. During my 24 years of ownership, she has only been sailed around the Bay Area, mostly

day sailing. I do not know how many prior owners there were (maybe 1, maybe two), or

if she was taken out of the Bay Area. It is possible that she was taken to Mexico but

there is no evidence of that (no souvenirs, no documents).

5. The shower drain has a separate sump from the bilge and a dedicated circuit/switch.

6. The wires into the mast have their own hole. The mast base looks good, photo to follow.

7. The bilge is dry (except in rainy weather) and reasonably clean. The keel bolts look good.

The wires look ok.

8. She has a 2 bladed Autostream feathering prop which has been greased at every

haulout.

9. All electrical equipment is old. Functional details to follow.

10. The last haulout for bottom paint was in March 2024. At that time, the underbody

condition was good. No extra work was needed. At the most recent bottom cleaning

two weeks ago, the paint condition was reported as good and the shaft zincs were

replaced.

11. She has the deep keel hull. Her draft and weight should be as per the brochure. Sorry for

any confusion.

12. A Garmin GPS 492 (uninstalled, new in box) will be included. The only wind instrument is

a Windex. There is a screen on the binnacle showing boat speed, accumulated miles and

water temperature

13. Rulemate 2717999 2000gph with internal sensing. The original manual pump is also

present.

14. See answer 11.

15. CA registration.

16. No running backstay.

17. Propane tanks and hoses appear to be original, the system is working as it should except

the warning light on the panel does not illuminate.

18. There was extensive work on the running rigging in 2020, including the following: one

winch was replaced, the traveller was overhauled and the following lines were replaced;

main halyard, first reef, second reef and traveller control lines. The remaining running

rigging (main sheet, jib sheet, and jib halyard) was replaced in 2017 and is in good

condition.

19. The anchor is a Bruce, 33lb. The rode is believed to be 250’ ½” nylon with 18’ 3/8” chain,

subject to confirmation. The rode is old with an area of hockling.

20. A survey from 2021 is attached. It was done for insurance. Older surveys are available

Cons

Unique Rigging May Limit Sail Options: The free-standing mast and cat rig limit the sail plan choices, which might affect performance in certain wind conditions compared to traditional sloops.
