This aluminum-hull racer, built in New Zealand, completed the Sydney to Hobart Race in 1975, and has been in some other great races as well. Check the "Wall of Honor" in the pictures for this ad.
She is now ready for more journeys, and just looking for someone to finish the updates she needs and put her back in the water. Boulder, Colorado is a great town, but not a sailor's paradise, and not the best place for a great boat like Vago.
The owner has done a good bit of work on her, and purchased a bunch of great equipment to complete her restoration. She's been stripped down to the essentials on the inside, and is looking for someone to rebuild her interior. Original interior was made of African Ribbon Mahogany, which is also still available (see the pictures for more information).
Included in the sale is a brand new Beta 50 hp engine, a large inventory of sales ( approximately thirty of them; all in good shape), Lots of brand new wiring and electronics equipment as well.
There's a 250 Amp Balmar alternator, and Victron charge controllers and other components to use the main engine as a generator. All of the wiring, charge components, and switch panels are there (see pictures for the list of components).
Three speed Barlow winches, chain, and anchor included as well.
There is a lot of extra stuff included.
She will still need a windlass, a battery bank and someone to complete the rebuilding of the interior. In addition, the fuel tank will need to be re-welded. It got water in it over the years and ruptured during a cold winter.
All told, this is a great opportunity to bring a great boat back to the water and back into service.
(Additional pictures of her sister ship, Inca added for inspiration to all boat builders out there.)
