This 2017 Scout 225 Dorado hits the sweet spot for anyone looking for a do-it-all family boat with legit offshore capability. It's powered by a Yamaha F200XB four-stroke that offers solid midrange punch and smooth cruising, all while staying easy on fuel. At just over 22 feet, it's small enough to tow and manage solo, but big enough to handle open water when things get a little choppy -- which is where that deep forward entry and flared bow really come into play. The ride is dry, predictable, and gets high marks from owners for its handling in rougher bay or coastal conditions.

One of the big reasons people lean toward the 225 Dorado is how it balances family comfort with real fishing utility.
