The Saturna 33 was drawn by the incomparable William (Bill) Garden as an all - weather Coastal Cruiser and Ocean Going Voyager. Built by Wiggers Custom Yachts, Est. 1976 in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. Wiggers has the reputation of building high quality boats specific to owner's requirements. The hull design creates an easily driven hull with a high flared sheerline for displacing water under the bow instead of waves washing over the bow. The signature Garden canoe or "double ended" stern lifts easily in following seas and waves do not "slap" on the transom.

Note: The fiberglass hull is probably cored with Airex PVC foam core which was the most popular PVC foam core at the time of build. Airex foam does not absorb water nor does it rot if water migrates into the core. This boat has core from 4" below the sheerline to the waterline. It is not confirmed to be Airex but there is more than a 90% chance that it is.

The underwater profile is a long fin keel with a skeg protected rudder.

Accommodations are perfect for a single-hander, couple with a small child (or dog and cat). She sits 4 in the raised salon. The inside steering station is perfect for motoring on those misty cool days or when it gets a little too "sporty" outside. Diesel forced air heating keeps the cabin warm. The forward cabin is a V berth with ample room enough for two. Galley is "down" with a 3 burner stove and big sink and large fridge / freezer. Large windows in the pilothouse provide great views and lots of light. The head is sufficient for one at a time.

On deck, the cockpit is snug for 4 adults, perfect for 2 (again, room for a child or the dog and cat). Sailing hardware is simple and easy.

Overall, the Saturna 33 is a well designed and built safe, comfortable all weather cruiser.
