Manufacturer Provided Description
The Sabre 425 is designed to meet the demands of the sea while offering her crew handling characteristics that provide comfort and build confidence. The deck plan is thoughtfully designed for safety and ease of handling. She has a high aspect, balanced rig and a powerful hull shape that yields excellent sea kindliness and directional control. Her readily managed sail plan and rigging have been developed for the correct balance between light-air performance and heavy weather stability. She has sturdy rod rigging and double airfoil spreaders, a strong and aerodynamically precise design.
Safety and structural integrity are incorporated into the construction by alternating layers of hand-laminated fiberglass mat and knitted roving with balsa core as an added stiffener. Hull durability is increased by incorporating vinylester resin and ISO NPG gelcoat into the DuraLam protection system. The Sabre 425 has two spacious cabins, an elegant main salon, two heads and a large navigation station and galley. The main salon is inviting, with a wrap-around settee and a beautifully finished teak or cherry table. The table folds away, allowing the settee to be converted into a double berth.
The Sabre 425's hull is designed to be easily driven, with a fine entry forward and fuller sections aft. Her NACA-section fin keel achieves an efficient lateral plane with low wetted surface, and her skeg gives the directional stability of a full keel boat with much less drag. Sailing from the Sabre 425's T-shaped cockpit is truly a pleasure. Ergonomically designed for function and comfort, the cockpit has high backrest coamings and plenty of room to spread out. The helmsman's seat is raised, allowing excellent visibility over the destroyer wheel, and two deep lockers and a storage bin keep sail gear well-organized.
With over 1,500 hand-crafted, vanished wood components, the Sabre 425 is built to custom boat builder's standards. In keeping with the Sabre heritage of quality, we select the finest materials for every yacht we build. You'll find names such as Edson, Hall Spars, Harken, Lewmar and Westerbeke to name a few - a few more reasons why Sabre has come to stand for superior quality for over two decades.
