Interior Accommodations

The forward cabin sleeping arrangement is a traditional v-berth. Smartly conceived, this berth is set back far enough to give enough room at the foot of the bed to give two occupants room to move their feet without constantly bumping into each other. Two drawers and a cabinet are located under the v-berth, and additional storage is available in three separate compartments accessed by lifting the cushions and board. A convenient shelf is located outboard and forward in the compartment. Aft of the v-berth to port is a bench seat, perfect for sitting to get dressed. Above and outboard is a large louvered cabinet with two shelves. Across from the seat to starboard are two book shelves with drawers, a cabinet below and a full size hanging locker. Facing aft form the v-berth is a sink on centerline with a mirror. A cabinet below the sink gives access to limited storage and the fresh water manifold. There are three overhead hatches and two opening ports for excellent ventilation and light. Two reading lamps and overhead lights provide additional light.

Just aft of the forward cabin is the main salon. The L-shaped settee to port and straight settee to starboard provide a comfortable place to relax below on a rainy day. A cherry drop-leaf table is mounted on the centerline between the two settees. When the leaves are up the table reaches both sides, allowing seating for up to 6 while dining. Under the table, space is available for wine or bottle storage. Above and outboard of both settees are bookshelves and louvered cabinets. Access to the port water tank, fuel tank, Racor fuel filter and front of the Yanmar engine is available under the port settee. A large overhead hatch and four ports offer good ventilation for this space. The hatches combined with the large windows provide excellent light and visibility below. Overhead lights and independently controlled reading lamps located at each end of the settees provide a variety of lighting options. The salon offers an excellent combination of form and function. It is comfortable, warm and a great place to hang out but also works when entertaining many guests for a meal.

Aft of the main salon is the forward facing nav station to starboard and the U-shaped galley to port. The nav station is large by today's standards and offers all the convenience and function one would hope for in a modern sailing vessel.

Full galley; dishes, plates, glasses, flatware and pans

Manufacturer Provided Description

Named "Best Full Size Cruiser" and "Overall Winner" of Cruising World's 1997 Boat of the Year Awards, the Sabre 402 is a cruiser-racer for the sailor who wants the perfect blend of speed and comfort. ESCAPADE'S interior arrangements offer two comfortable private staterooms; a V-berth cabin forward and quarter-berth cabin aft sleeping a total of 7 with the addition of the salon settee and dinette with infill. Her cherry interior is warm and bright as a result of 6'5" headroom in the salon, white headliner and large cabin windows that provide excellent visibility. Low profile accordion-style fabric window covers are on all ports and windows. The cabin sole is a traditional teak and holly finished bright, and the louvered cabinet doors, superbly fitted cherry veneer and cherry hardwood joinery work are top rate examples of the craftsmanship that has set Sabre apart as one of the world's top builders of quality boats. Sabre's care and attention to detail is evident right down to the finish work on the wood trimmed bug screens covering all hatches.
