Kolea is a Ron Holland designed performance cruising yacht. Mr. Holland needs no introduction in the sailing world of yacht design. His name is synonymous with world famous racing and cruising yachts including the largest sailing mega yacht in the world, M3.
Kolea is a performance Solent rigged sloop, 50' overall with a hull shape and keel profile designed for speed, comfort and safety for crew and guests. She was designed for a very knowledgeable cruising couple with multiple boats behind them. Kolea was designed by Mr. Holland and his design team for the original and current owners and launched in 2013.
At Mr. Holland's recommendation, a family owned custom yacht builder in Italy was commissioned to build the yacht. The Hull and Deck are infused with Vinylester resin and high modulus fabrics incorporating PVC form core for strength and weight savings. The cabin and cockpit structures were built in a mold specifically for Kolea. At Mr. Holland's direction, Kolea was delivered to Vancouver BC, Canada where a custom yard commissioned the yacht.
Kolea has a three spreader Sparcraft Aluminum rig with a Leisure Furl boom. Winches are by Anderson two of which are electric, the Sails are by Mack. Genoa and jib furlers are by Bamar and are electric. She is powered by a Yanmar 110 HP engine. Generator is Northern Lights 6 Kw.
Kolea's hull is painted with AwlGrip, the color is called Claret. She stands out everywhere she goes, out sailing, in the marinas or on the hook. She is a beautiful yacht which always engages conversation wherever she travels.
The interior is finished with varnished teak old world craftsmanship and Italian leather and is spectacular. Appliances are first rate and the fixtures are Grohe.
She is a two cabin yacht designed for a couple with occasional guests or a child.
Down below, the ambiance is modern and comforting with an understated level of luxury with function.
Kolea's sailing performance is pure Ron Holland, quick to respond to wind variations, safe and comfortable in a seaway. The lead bulb at the bottom of the keel, assures excellent stability. Roller furling main and head sails are easy to trim from the safety of the cockpit and near the helm.
