This O'Day is in good condition, and has been well maintained by her previous owner. This sailboat has been sailed in fresh water here on Lake Winnipesaukee since 1998. Designed to be light and nimble, the O'day 272 is easily sailed single-handed or by a small crew. Additionally, rigging is also easy and fast. The O'Day is perfect for young families looking to try their hand at sailing or it would even make a great upgrade boat for growing sailing families. The winged keel has an end-plate design of solid lead casting. This works to keep the center of gravity low for stability. The keel design also opens up sailing and motoring range to shallower waters where deep keels cannot venture.
The previous owner made several upgrades to the 272 including new sails in 2019.The boat's bottom was repainted in 2021 along with an engine tune up the same year. As far as electrical equipment, a new panel, chartplotter, LED lighting, battery charger, battery switch, new battery and the ability to connect to shore power were all added in 2019. In 2023, new halyards and rigging were added along with other general systems. In 2024, new water systems and sail upgrades were implemented.
