Nordic Tug's reputation for building rugged, capable cruising vessels is well earned, and the 32 remains one of the most successful models in the company's history. Built in the USA, the Nordic Tug 32 features a semi-displacement hull constructed with hand-laid, heavily reinforced fiberglass, a full protective keel, and hard chines that provide excellent tracking, stability, and predictable handling in varying sea conditions. Whether cruising inland waterways, coastal routes, or undertaking long-range passages, Clover delivers comfort and confidence underway.
Power is provided by the legendary Cummins 6BTA 5.9 M3 270HP diesel engine, showing 885 original hours. Known worldwide for durability and parts availability, this engine is ideally matched to the Nordic Tug 32 hull. Importantly, Clover's engine is jacket-water aftercooled, meaning coolant-not raw saltwater-circulates through the aftercooler. This significantly reduces corrosion risk and eliminates the routine cleaning requirements associated with traditional saltwater-cooled aftercoolers, simplifying ownership and long-term maintenance.
Backing up the main engine is a 5kW Onan generator with 241 hours, recently upgraded with new soundproofing and a painted shield (2025) for quieter operation. The generator fuel pump was replaced in January 2025, and the generator starting battery was replaced in 2024. Power is delivered through a Twin Disc transmission with ZF MicroCommander electronic controls, and the fly-by-wire control head (MC2000-2) was replaced in 2023-providing smooth, precise throttle response.
Clover's mechanical systems have received extensive attention in recent years, underscoring her turn-key status. In 2022, the vessel received a new turbocharger, torsional coupling, transmission oil cooler, exhaust riser (DEFRISER), seawater pump, thermostat, and air heater relays, along with replacement of all four vibration isolators (engine mounts). In 2024, the main engine cooling system was professionally descaled. The shaft and rudder seals were replaced with Tides Marine components in 2023, and the bottom was painted with Interlux Micron CSC. These upgrades represent significant investment in preventative maintenance and long-term reliability.
Efficiency is a hallmark of the Nordic Tug 32. Clover burns approximately 1 gallon per hour at 6 knots, 2-2.5 GPH at 7-8 knots, and approximately 3.5 GPH at 10 knots. With 205 gallons of fuel capacity, she offers a cruising range of roughly 1,200 nautical miles at 6 knots, 800 nautical miles at 8 knots, and over 570 nautical miles at 10 knots. This kind of economy makes Clover exceptionally well suited for the Great Loop or extended coastal cruising, allowing owners to cover serious distance between fuel stops.
Currently kept under cover in freshwater on Lake Lanier near Atlanta, GA, Clover benefits from an environment that is gentle on systems and finishes. She previously resided in the protected waters of Windmill Harbour in Hilton Head Island, SC-another testament to thoughtful ownership and careful stewardship. Clover can very easily and affordably be moved back to Hilton Head or up to Chattanooga, TN, to expand your navigational adventures.
The Nordic Tug 32's layout is both practical and inviting. The raised pilothouse offers excellent visibility with a true 360-degree view and approximately 6'8" headroom. The helm provides comfortable seating, strong sightlines for docking, and full control of navigation systems. In 2022, Clover was upgraded with AIS, onboard WiFi, and a PepLink router, and in 2024 a Shakespeare 5225XT 8' Galaxy VHF antenna was installed for improved communications performance.
Moving into the salon, the open layout maximizes space and natural light. The large settee converts into an oversized double berth for guests. The galley is efficiently arranged, and the stove was replaced in 2022. In 2024, the teak sole was professionally stripped and refinished, elevating the warmth and classic character of the interior. In 2025, carpeting on the stairs to the stateroom was removed and replaced with elegant sapele wood steps-another thoughtful aesthetic upgrade.
Forward, the private stateroom features an island berth with generous storage. The head includes a large separate stall shower-an uncommon feature in a vessel of this size and a significant comfort advantage for extended cruising.
Climate control is provided by two reverse-cycle air conditioning units-16,000 BTU forward and 12,000 BTU in the salon. Electrical improvements include installation of new battery switches and a DC multimeter at the DC panel (2024), along with a GFCI breaker in the bilge and a dedicated breaker for the bilge heater. AGM batteries support starting, generator, house loads, and bow thruster operation.
On deck, Clover is well equipped for serious cruising. The ground tackle includes a 33-pound Bruce anchor with 30 feet of 5/16" chain and 200 feet of three-strand nylon rode, deployed via a Lofrans Tigres windlass. A storage box was added in 2023, and a new bimini was installed the same year. In 2025, the cockpit received new canvas. The superstructure was professionally prepped, primed, and painted in 2023, and the vessel has received multiple compound and wax treatments, most recently in April 2025 with P&S carnauba and polymer protection.
Clover also includes Weaver snap davits.
In every respect, Clover reflects the care of experienced owners who understand what matters in a cruising vessel. Significant mechanical components have been renewed, cosmetic upkeep has been consistent, and meaningful cruising upgrades have been thoughtfully installed.
For buyers seeking a proven Great Loop candidate, an economical coastal cruiser, or a comfortable and capable trawler for extended adventures, Clover stands out in today's market. Nordic Tug 32s remain in high demand, and examples with low engine hours, extensive documented upgrades, and true turn-key readiness are increasingly difficult to find.
