Description The Powerboat Guide touts the well-respected Monk 36 as a graceful aft-cabin trawler offering a mix of simplicity, comfort and seaworthiness. The Ed Monk designed semi displacement hull is powered by a single Perkins diesel rated at 135HP and giving her an 8 knot cruise with a fuel burn of roughly 3 gal an hour and a range of about 800 NM. The bow is tall, and there's plenty of freeboard from stem to stern. There's a flybridge helm station in addition to the lower helm in salon that gives good sightlines around the boat. Wide side decks and rails all around are a plus for safety, and there's room for dingy storage on the aft cabin top. The aft cabin is the master stateroom, with it's queen-size berth offset to starboard. That leaves room for a large hanging locker to port and drawers and storage lockers on the starboard side with adjacent head compartment. The second stateroom is forward with a large V-berth and enclosed head compartment. The main salon has a port settee and high-low table that converts to a double berth. Just aft is the L-shaped galley. Equipment includes a refrigerator/freezer, a four burner range/oven and a double stainless sink, as well as a microwave oven. The lower helm station is forward to starboard.
The vessel is well suited for long-distance cruising, offering a comfortable layout with two cabins, spacious salon, and fully equipped galley. The flybridge provides excellent visibility for navigation, while the aft deck offers ample space for relaxation and entertainment.
