Up for sale is a well maintained Series/ Production Mini Transat 6.50. #655 - named Zealot - is designed by famed naval architect Marc Lombard and built by Mas Composites in Spain. This 'Zero' Mini Transat 6.50 is a nicely maintained example of a very well known and respected design. A well-traveled and storied vessel, Zealot/ 655 is a veteran of the solo Trans-Atlantic 'Mini Transat' race under the command of Craig Horsfield. Zealot competed a second time with Canadian sailor Diane Reid, but unfortunately dismasted and did not finish the race. (She has a newer mast as a result). Now located in Thomaston, Maine, Zealot is owned by a professional rigger and passionate sailor who is employed by the legendary Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Company.
Having been day-sailed and then professionally put into storage and up for sale, Zealot offers an exciting and interesting opportunity for the right intrepid sailor who wishes to do some fast and adventurous cruising on the east coast of the USA, while also serving as a great platform for singlehanded or shorthanded racing. With a vibrant shorthanded sailing scene in New England and a growing Mini fleet on the Chesapeake Bay, Zealot is ready to be picked up and trailered to the starting line of her next adventure. She would also make a great platform for a budget Mini Transat campaign and some entry level racing over in France.
Thoroughly equipped with an extensive sail inventory and with everything on the boat in good shape mechanically, Zealot benefits from a very recent bottom job and thorough maintenance schedule. Her outboard engine is nearly new and the mast is approximately ten years old and is in excellent shape with good standing and running rigging. A Raymarine autopilot, wind instruments and instrument package is installed and comes with some limited spares. Brand new Victron lithium batteries are kept topped off by a stern-mounted solar panel, and he boat is totally ready for inspection at her present location, or being put in the water for some serious sailing by her new owner.
Zealot comes with bags of sails including a good and serviceable sail inventory that is all professionally stored in climate controlled storage. All of her flying sails are wrapped in plastic and stored away in a container, while the working sails are stored onboard the vessel due to their longer battens. The boat, mast and sails are all stored indoors, while there is another storage location that includes running rigging, dock lines, fenders, another solar panel, the outboard motor, etc. It should be noted that the boat includes flares, life raft and EPIRB, but that these items are no longer 'current', and should be replaced before entering any races.
