This beautiful classic sailboat needs to be seen to be appreciated. She is ready for a daysail, weekend in Catalina, or long distance trip. Beautiful on deck and below. The interior sports are full V berth up front with large salon with table/bed, Galley, and full head. The boats comes with several covers, from full boat to cockpit only. This is the classic hull the was the precursor for the famous Cal 40.
Cold molded Hull - No expense was spared on a full 1 year restoration completed at Wayne Ettle's wooden boat yard in Long Beach. The hull has multiple layers of fiberglass below waterline inside and out to create a strong, dry boat that has many more great years of enjoyment. Get the best of both worlds with the peace of mind with a combination of fiberglass and the soulful beauty of a wood boat.
The current owner spent 1000's of man hours refinishing Tantara to her current beauty. The original wood hull has mulitple coats of penetrating epoxy with West System coated on the outside and inside for a watertight and sealed hull.
The interior and bilges are 2 coats of penetrating expoxy cover with two coats of West System. A white Interlux paint is the final coat.
Wood construction is cove and bead strip planked. Hull is 1 x 1.5 cove and crown strip planked African Mahogany
The work was done in cooperation with the Wayne Ettal who is a well known shipwright.
Mast is wood box construction with 7/8 inch thick wood forming the box. 4 coats of penetrating varnish is the base with 10 coats of varnish over that. Spreaders are wood with a bronze top cover.
All the varnished wood is protected by a full custom cover that shields the entire boat from the Sun. Tantara also come equipped with a full custom boom cover for those days you do not want to use the full cover.
