Epoxy over wood refinishing

The current owner spent 1000's of man hours refinishing Tantara to her current beauty. The original wood hull has mulitple coats of penetrating epoxy with West System coated on the outside and inside for a watertight and sealed hull.

The interior and bilges are 2 coats of penetrating expoxy cover with two coats of West System. A white Interlux paint is the final coat.

Wood construction is cove and bead strip planked. Hull is 1 x 1.5 cove and crown strip planked African Mahogany

The work was done in cooperation with the Wayne Ettal who is a well known shipwright.

Mast contruction

Mast is wood box construction with 7/8 inch thick wood forming the box. 4 coats of penetrating varnish is the base with 10 coats of varnish over that. Spreaders are wood with a bronze top cover.

Custom covers

All the varnished wood is protected by a full custom cover that shields the entire boat from the Sun. Tantara also come equipped with a full custom boom cover for those days you do not want to use the full cover.
