Owners Comments and Boat History

I purchased the boat from the original owner in Florida in 2008 , she had been lightly used for one year there. We sailed her to the islands and cruised seasonally between Grenada and Dominica.

In 2015 the standing rigging was replaced in St. Maarten.

While Caelestis did spend 2.5 years on the hard during COVID restrictions, she was washed weekly and ventilated throughout. As a result, her structural and mechanical systems were preserved in good condition, though soft goods and headliners were refreshed as needed afterward. She has never suffered notable damage nor been the subject of any insurance claims.

Caelestis was purchased in 2008 in Florida from the original owner. She was sailed to the southern Caribbean, where she has remained in private use to the present day. She has never chartered and only been sailed seasonally, doing light inter-island passages from Grenada to Dominica and back—totaling about 500 nautical miles per season. She has been stored on the hard after every season, with the exception of this coming summer, when I will keep her moored for selling purposes.

With the onset of COVID restrictions, Caelestis sat on the hard for 2.5 years in Grenada—this was the low point in her history. The boat’s structural and mechanical elements were relatively unaffected, but the top surfaces and interior finishes required a lot of attention. All headlining, seating, and fabrics (except curtains), as well as the sails, were stored in a warehouse.

With the exception of that period when she was on the hard, the exterior has been washed down weekly, and the hatches opened for ventilation—a procedure that continues to this day.

The rigging and most navigational equipment were replaced in 2015 in St. Maarten. Caelestis has never experienced any notable damage or insurance claims during my ownership.

Since 2023:

  • Trampolines were replaced
  • All batteries were replaced
  • Fridge and freezer were replaced
  • All bathroom pumps and macerators (9 in total) were replaced
  • The exterior mahogany is in good shape. There are no cracks below the waterline, and there has never been any leaking.

All headlining throughout the boat was replaced in 2024. All cushions, inside and out, were replaced or recovered between 2024 and 2025 with marine-grade vinyl featuring a calf-hide texture. The woodwork is high-quality cherry and remains in good condition. The fridge and freezer are new Isotherm models. All bathroom mirrors were replaced in 2024 with beveled glass. Kitchenware includes Le Creuset pieces. All kitchen equipment and dishware are high quality and well maintained. Cabinetry throughout the vessel is also in excellent condition.
