Layout & Accommodations

INTERIOR COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE:

The interior has plenty of headroom. Lagoon’s trademark large vertical windows let in the light while not letting in the heat. This keeps the salon cool and also allows for great visibility.

The navigation station to port in the main salon includes a chart table and electrical system monitoring displays.

Above the chart table is the navigation equipment, and storage shelf. New high end B&G V60 digital VHF was installed and integrated into the dual-transmit-and-receive AIS for safety.

In the comfortable salon, the table drops down using smaller legs to form a comfortable day couch or sea berth.

In the galley, the fridge is so deep, it’s nearly impossible to reach the back. Everyone loves the modern, clean, and elegant super-safe induction cooktop. So much safer and nicer than the old propane stove versions (easy enough to switch back, though, if that’s what you want). The cockpit extra fridge is perfectly placed and new in 2021.

Starboard is the Master Hull, comprising of a large aft master cabin with queen sized bed, upgrqaded mattress (2021), cupboards and hanging closet. Mid hull is a library area, additional closet, and a storage cabinet.

The master head/bathroom is forward of that, upgraded in 2021 to an electric flush top of the line Raritan toilet with sea/fresh flush switch. Forward of that is a gigantic separate shower room (also good for the biggest wet locker you can imagine). This is bigger than most shower spaces on 50 foot catamarans with great hot water.

The Port Hull has a large aft cabin with queen sized bed, mattresses, and hanging closet. Mid-hull head (bathroom) with electric flush top of the line Raritan toilet with sea water/fresh water switch, and a wet shower. The forward cabin has a double bed, mattress and hanging closet and marine flooring in both hulls.

Deck & Equipment

EXTERIOR COMFORT and BEAUTY:

Her large aft cockpit is perfect for dining or entertaining. The elegant wood surfaces make the boat really feel like home. Her large, sliding pass through window from the galley to the outside dining table makes serving your guests a breeze, and allows you to enjoy the outdoors from inside.

The Lagoon 380 is the most popular large catamaran ever built. The product of many years’ experience and research, and very well planned, there is access to engines from the transoms, large cockpit with table and bench seat, rigid walkway on the trampoline, and wide side decks. It is distinctly the work of renowned architects, Van Peteghem and Lauriot-Prevost. This boat is innovative and fast, easy to handle and of course very comfortable both at sea and anchor. But above all, this catamaran is fun to live aboard!

In through the large glass sliding door is the main salon with a curved settee and large oval dining table. There is storage beneath the settees. The galley is located starboard and aft in the main salon. A very large extra deep primary fridge, a newer secondary fridge right under the helm station, and a new elegant induction cooktop make for a well designed galley. Plus, there’s already a barbecue mounted to the aft stainless railing.

Above your head is a factory installed hardtop (this is what you want – don’t make the mistake of buying an older 380 w/the aftermarket hardtop that has the exposed ugly tubing).

Forward is the top of the line “Supertramp” trampoline - which is super comfortable to walk or sit on. Feel the breeze and watch the dolphins in comfort.

UV strip on the jib, sailbag for the main, and helm seat were all redone in 2021 in taupe sunbrella fabric.

Electrical, Power & Plumbing

Electrical: This system is so much better than a generator system. The best marine grade lithium battery system (Lithionics, which apparently was the only UL listed marine lithium system) was researched, and the best related equipment was purchased (Victron, including a 5000 watt Quattro inverter). This system works amazingly well and makes anyone who comes aboard feel that the old generator based systems are obsolete.

Victron remote monitoring system. 350 watts of solar on a beautiful custom stainless steel davit rack.

Engine & Mechanical

MECHANICAL - HIGH END RELIABILITY

Air Quality: In 2021, a top of the line Mabru three unit air conditioning/heat system was installed, along with three control panels plus three Blue Air air purification air quality systems (like on the megayachts). The old clunky air conditioning/diesel generator systems are now a thing of the past. So, this elegant system was installed and works beautifully! The system can run at night at anchor with silent clean air conditioning on lithium batteries. Solar and high-output alternators recharge the batteries during the day.

Engines: Engines have both been maintained and upgraded whenever the opportunity arose. Alternators, starters, filters, all replaced or rebuilt professionally as required. New DC to DC converters to accompany the high output alternators.  Props were upgraded to three blade folding in 2021.

Sails & Rigging

RIGGING: Running rigging: main halyard was replaced and upgraded with the highest quality non stretch halyard lines and the smoothest available racing grade Tylaska main halyard block. Code Zero roller (Facnor) is racing quality. Dyneema used as needed. Dyneema lazy jacks new in 2021. Electric winch at helm.

Davits: Each version of the 380 over the course of its 20 year run got better and better. This late model has the sturdiest version of the davits, which are capable of holding a hard bottom RIBs

Additional Information

The 380 has a roomier and beamier design than the Leopard 38/39, which has a comparable length overall.  The owners' factory hardtop version of the 380 feels so much roomier.

On this boat, that RIB dinghy does not convey, but the catamaran has been carrying a Highfield 310 with steering console and a 20hp electric start Yamaha outboard.

SUMMARY:

Big enough to do anything and go anywhere, but not too big to ever feel intimidating. Easier to clean than the bigger cats, cheaper to maintain than the bigger cats, this is the best equipped 380 available.
