Designed by Robert Perry, only 56 of these blue water beauties were built. She is in good condition. She has the space below to amaze any offshore sailor or live-a-board, at approx 6'5" there's lots of headroom. The quality of interior joinery that many would argue is the best of the best and just not found in many of today’s yachts.
The Lafitte 44 was built incorporating comfort and the strength to handle the elements of the open sea. Many have circumnavigated, and at least one has been sailed around twice. A comfort-able motion offshore, and liveaboard load-carrying capacity are hallmarks of the LaFitte 44. Two companionways, one amidships and one aft, give access to the interior, which provides fairly separate quarters and is elegantly fitted out in solid teak. You won't find them built like this anymore.
CHUNG HWA BOAT (TAIWAN)
Chung Hwa Boat, CHB, was part of a three yard group owned by Y.F. Lee that was located in Kaohsiung, South Taiwan. They built mostly trawler style powerboats as well as a few sailboats for export to the US and Europe, for a number of different importers where they were sold under many different names. It is thought that a yard of this same name still exists but located in mainland China.
