Accommodations and Layout

From the large and fully-covered aft deck you enter THE GOOD LIFE'S saloon through double powder-coated aluminum doors. The saloon is bright and airy by virtue of large opening windows to port and starboard as well as an aft bulkhead opening window. On the starboard side is an L-shaped settee with Ultraleather cushions and hi-lo teak table that can easily seat 6-8 people for dinner. Being a widebody, there is plenty of room a couple of recliners, ottomans, and side table. There is also new Karastan saloon carpet in 2025.

Forward of the saloon on the starboard side is the open-faced U-shaped galley that has everything necessary for the meal prep, all the while making sure the chef is part of the party. There is plenty of counter space, drawer and locker storage and an opening port. Opposite the galley is additional storage and counter space as well book/display shelving.

Down and forward from the galley are the owner and guest cabins along with the large head, and washer and dryer cabinet.

The guest cabin is to starboard with a convertible settee, pullman berth, desk, hanging locker, good drawer and locker storage. There are also two (2) stainless steel opening ports for additional natural ventilation and light.

Opposite the guest cabin is the large head with separate stall shower. The vanity has a Corian countertop and sink, mirrored medicine cabinet, additional locker storage, a Raritan Elegance fresh water toilet (new 2023), and an opening port. The large stall shower has a bi-fold door, molded seat, and another opening port.

Located between the head and the master cabin is the laundry with separate Asko washer and dryer (new 2024).

Forward is the owner's cabin with large queen island berth. There are two (2) hanging lockers, dresser with a large lighted mirror, four (4) opening ports, and an overhead screened hatch. Also, there is voluminous storage under the berth, accessed via a large platform with pneumatic struts. One subtle, but very desirable feature of the 44' is the solid bulkhead forward, no chain locker doors forward allowing heat, humidity, and odor into the living space.

Moving up and forward from the galley is the raised pilothouse, the center of operations while underway. Not only does the captain have a commanding view from his highback helm chair, but there is plenty of room for visitors with the raised settee and table. The settee is convertible for overnight friends and family, and the upholstery was new in 2024. There are powder-coated aluminum dutch doors port and starboard, two (2) opening ports in the aft bulkhead, and two (2) screened overhead hatches. Exiting the pilothouse on the port side and turning aft you will find easy access to the boat deck and flybridge. Turning forward is the uncluttered foredeck with chain locker access and an inviting seat across the front of the pilothouse. High rails all around provide added protection while underway.

The flybridge has the optional radar arch which leaves the boat deck clear and uncluttered, leaving plenty of room for deck furniture. The dinghy is mounted athwartship on the aft end of the boat deck, and the MarQuipt hydraulic davit makes launching and retreiving the dinghy easy work. Air draft with the arch down makes THE GOOD LIFE a perfect candidate for the Great Loop.

Being a 44' widebody there is fore to aft outside access on the starboard side. The lower side deck and aft deck are solid teak and covered by the boat deck. The cockpit is spacious, with plenty of room for deck chairs and table. There is a full-size transom door, and also step-thru doors to port and starboard. In addition, the is a fresh water hot and cold water shower just inside the transom door. There are also boarding gates to port and starboard forward.

Construction

Hull, deck and superstructure are all made from single piece female molds. Hull construction includes use of USA-made Cook gel-coat, Hand-laid Knytex fiberglass with close-cell PVC sandwich core used in topsides. The cored topsides and superstructure lower the center of gravity, provide increased rigidity and thermal insulation. Solid fiberglass below the waterline with blister resistant vinylester resin and Kevlar reinforcements for impact resistance. All cored areas are vacuum-bagged for a strong, light weight void-free laminate.
