Interior Accomodations

Stepping below, STATIRA welcomes you into a bright, modern, and highly functional interior—hallmarks of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389 design. Her two-cabin layout offers generous space for cruising couples or small families, with warm wood finishes, clean lines, and abundant natural light throughout.

The salon features a large U-shaped settee to starboard with a convertible dining table, complemented by additional seating to port, allowing comfortable dining and lounging for 4–6 guests. Overhead hatches and long hull ports flood the space with light, creating an open, airy feel. A dedicated navigation station to port provides a proper desk, electrical panel access, and convenient storage—ideal for passage planning or onboard management.

Aft to starboard, the galley is thoughtfully arranged for extended cruising and everyday living. It is equipped with a two-burner propane stove and oven, top-loading refrigerator, stainless steel sink, and ample counter space and storage. The layout allows safe, efficient movement while underway.

The forward owner’s stateroom offers a comfortable V-berth, hanging locker, and generous storage, creating a welcoming retreat. Aft, the starboard guest cabin features a spacious double berth with standing headroom, excellent natural light, and a hanging locker—ideal for guests or extended stays aboard.

The head compartment, located aft to port, is surprisingly roomy and well appointed with a separate shower area, marine toilet, and molded sink, providing excellent comfort and functionality at anchor or underway.

A standout feature is the converted aft port cabin, which has been thoughtfully reconfigured into a dedicated workshop and systems space. This area provides outstanding storage and functionality for cruising sailors, houses the upgraded lithium battery bank, and offers direct access to the cockpit via the port cockpit locker—ideal for gear management and maintenance.

Overall, STATIRA’s interior is exceptionally clean, well cared for, and intelligently laid out, offering a rare combination of comfort, practicality, and cruising readiness in a Sun Odyssey 389.

Deck and Cockpit

STATIRA’s cockpit is spacious, ergonomic, and designed to excel at both serious sailing and relaxed cruising. Twin helm stations provide excellent visibility and easy access to all sail controls, while a solid cockpit table with folding leaves creates a comfortable space for entertaining or dining underway.

A fully enclosable canvas bimini with side panels transforms the cockpit into a protected, all-weather helm station—ideal for early-season sailing, rainy days, or extended cruising in variable climates. This setup adds significant comfort and versatility without compromising visibility or airflow.

The drop-down transom converts into a generous swim platform with easy water access, making dinghy boarding and swimming at anchor simple and safe. Wide side decks, secure handholds, and clean deck layouts allow confident movement forward.

All running rigging is led aft for efficient shorthanded sailing, and the Harken electric halyard winch makes sail handling and reefing effortless. Anchoring is straightforward and secure with a Rocna anchor, Fortress backup, and an accessible, well-organized ground tackle arrangement.

Overall, STATIRA’s deck and cockpit layout strike an excellent balance between performance, safety, and comfort—well suited for coastal cruising, extended passages, or enjoying time aboard at anchor.

Rig and Sails

STATIRA features a modern, easy-to-handle fractional sloop rig designed to balance performance with simplicity. Her deck-stepped mast with swept-back spreaders eliminates the need for a backstay, allowing for a larger roach mainsail and a clean, efficient sail plan.

All sail controls are led aft to the cockpit, enabling confident shorthanded sailing. A Harken electric halyard winch significantly reduces effort when hoisting or reefing the mainsail, making sail handling straightforward in a wide range of conditions. The rig is complemented by a furling headsail and a slab-reefed mainsail, providing versatility and control.

The sails are original to the vessel and remain in very good condition, reflecting light use and consistent maintenance by her owner. They continue to deliver reliable performance for cruising and occasional club racing.

Mechanical/Engine

STATIRA is powered by a Yanmar 3YM30AE 29hp diesel engine with saildrive, delivering smooth, efficient propulsion and excellent maneuverability under power. The engine has been well maintained, is easily accessible for routine service, and currently shows approximately 470 hours, which is considered very low for a diesel.

For added confidence in close quarters, she is equipped with a bow thruster, making docking and tight maneuvering significantly easier—particularly beneficial for shorthanded crews or when handling the boat in wind or current.

Her electrical and charging systems are thoughtfully configured for reliability and modern cruising. The setup includes a dedicated AGM engine start battery, a separate bow thruster battery, and a robust 400Ah lithium house bank. This system is supported by a Victron MultiPlus inverter/charger and a high-output Balmar alternator, providing dependable power generation and efficient charging both underway and at anchor.
