The evolution of the J/36 lies in its newly designed deck plan. Cockpit floor space is expanded with a twin wheel configuration, allowing easier fore/aft access and same-level transom boarding. The same refined ergonomics that make the J/36 ideal for cruising also improve crew efficiency during racing maneuvers. The J/36 retains the easy-to-manage sail plan (main and small jib) and sleek hull/underbody of the J/112E, a design whose unique ability to sail well in both light and heavy winds has set it apart from other modern-day performance cruisers.

The newly designed companionway entrance smoothly transitions between the cockpit and below. The J/36's interior features bright and comfortable spaces with numerous handholds and practical storage spaces - all designed for cruising life aboard.

The J/36 joins the J/40 and J/45 to complete the new offshore, performance cruising/racing range.
