Each Intrepid features a transverse step in the hull. A step, or cutaway, in the boat's running area reduces the amount of wetted surface as the boat moves through the water. The step allows air to slip under the chine, giving the hull a natural lift with specific points to run on. Bow rise is minimal and all propeller thrust directs toward moving the boat ahead. The step lets the boat get on plane because there is less friction holding it back. Another benefit is that the "break" beneath the hull sends clean water to propellers, providing a better bite for instant throttle response. Major components like the hull, liner, and bulkheads are chemically bonded to fuse each piece into a solid mass.
