The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 2011 Hunter 39 is a well-regarded cruising sailboat known for its comfortable accommodations and solid sailing performance. Here are some of the key pros and cons:

Pros

Spacious Interior: The Hunter 39 offers a roomy and well-designed cabin with ample headroom, a comfortable salon, and multiple staterooms, making it ideal for extended cruising or liveaboard.

Innovative Design: Features like the Hunter’s signature B&R rig provide easy sail handling and good performance, even with a small crew.

Good Performance: The boat balances speed and stability, offering responsive handling and comfortable motion under sail.

Modern Amenities: The 2011 model includes updated systems and conveniences such as a functional galley, decent storage, and quality finishes.

Easy Handling: Roller furling headsail and in-mast furling options simplify sail management.

Cons

Build Quality: While generally solid, some owners have noted that certain interior fittings and hardware can feel less robust compared to higher-end production boats.

Limited Upwind Performance: The B&R rig and hull design favor ease of use over high-performance upwind sailing, which may not satisfy those seeking a racing edge.

Weight: The boat carries a moderate displacement, which can affect acceleration and light wind performance.

Maintenance: Like many production boats of this era, ongoing maintenance is necessary to keep systems running smoothly, especially on older models.
