A door separates this cabin from the rest of the accommodations, and there is a private access door to the head. There is a bureau to port with additional drawers under the berths, and large lockers above the berths with sliding doors. Aft to starboard is a large cedar-lined hanging locker with a custom raised-panel door that includes a shelf outboard, mounted fire extinguisher inside, and stowage brackets for V-berth filler pieces. A locker door forward accesses the forepeak that houses a partitioned rope/chain locker.

CONSTRUCTION

This hull and deck are constructed from a hand laid laminate of blister resistant vinylester laminating resin reinforced with a knit hybrid fabric of Kevlar/E-glass for strength against repeated impact. A foam core is vacuum bagged into the laminate to provide the greatest degree of stiffness and thermal/acoustical insulation possible. The skin coat is chopped mat in low-shrink vinylester resin to provide a superior surface finish and a greater resistance to water osmosis. The foam core is removed and the hull is massively reinforced with additional layers of fiberglass in such areas as the hull/deck connecting flange, centerline and keel, chain plates, rudderpost, and all through-hull fittings. Hull stringers cored with PVC foam are bonded to the hull and integrated with the mast step and engine mounts to form a single unit.

The deck is one piece fiberglass molding which incorporates a hybrid knit fabric of Kevlar/E-glass to reduce weight over core material of cross-linked, closed cell, PVC foam. Core is deleted and replaced with solid layers of reinforcing glass laminate in the way of major penetrations and high stress areas. The core is vacuum bagged to the outside skin using a special adhesive.

The hull has a recessed flange molded in to receive the deck that is then bonded and thru-bolted to form a permanent watertight, hull/deck joint. Interior bulkheads are then bonded to the deck using bi-axial fiberglass. There is an external lead ballast keel with a fiberglass centerboard that is raised and lowered using a cockpit winch, along with a fiberglass spade rudder. KISMET draws 5’-10” with centerboard up and 11’-1” with board down. Large aft deck area has molded-in nonskid and includes one large hatch and a plexiglass hatch with varnished teak trim over the aft lazarette.

  • Off-white Awlgrip topsides with Flag Blue cove, single Flag Blue boot stripe, and teal bottom
  • White Awlgrip cabin house and deck with Awlgrip gray nonskid
COCKPIT

The large center cockpit has comfortable seating for guests, a custom raised helm seat and coaming cut away each side to allow easy access from side decks. The cockpit sole is inlaid teak and has recessed scuppers. A stainless steering wheel with elkhide cover is mounted on a Hinckley pedestal with stainless steel binnacle guard. The stainless steel binnacle houses a 6" compass and has a single lever engine control.

A very nice recent addition is the hardtop bimini (new 2024) with built-in handrails, lights, overhead window at helm and platform for solar panels. There are also full side enclosures and dodger with connector forward (all new 2024). There is a Hinckley folding varnished teak cockpit table mounted on pedestal, cockpit cushions, and a custom seat locker. Hot/cold shower in cockpit coaming.
