CERCERELLE is one of three Rozinante yawls commissioned by L. Francis Herreshoff himself and built at the O. Lie Nielsen Boatyard in Rockland, Maine.
The keels were laid in 1972 and work progressed fastest on CERCERELLE which was launched in the fall of that year. The second boat in the group was named ROZINANTE and launched in the spring of 1973, a few months after L.Francis died.
Little can be said of the beauty and performance of the Rozinante that was not said better by LF Herreshoff himself in "The Complete Cruiser" or by Roger C Taylor in "Thirty Classic Boat Designs"
CERCERELLE's varnished mahogany hull is in excellent condition and the cosmetics throughout have been professionally maintained at a very standard. She is a most faithful interpretation of this iconic design, right down the cedar bucket and 10' oar.
In 2020 CERCERELLE had all of the frames throughout her cockpit replaced, and a new interior built with a double berth and a hidden porta-pottie. Included (but not installed) is a 2020 Torqeedo electric pod drive with all controls/components and Lithium batteries.

Quality Construction: Built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship typical of Herreshoff boats, ensuring durability and longevity.

Comfortable Interior: Despite its modest size, the interior layout is thoughtfully designed for comfortable accommodations and efficient use of space.
Strong Community: Owners and enthusiasts of the Rozinante often form a passionate and supportive community, which can be valuable for maintenance tips and camaraderie.
Cons
Limited Speed: The traditional hull design and long keel make the boat slower compared to more modern designs, which may not appeal to those seeking high performance.
Maintenance: As a classic wooden or fiberglass boat (depending on the specific build), it may require more ongoing maintenance to keep in top condition.
Space Constraints: While comfortable, the Rozinante's compact size means limited storage and living space, which could be a drawback for extended cruising.
Outdated Amenities: Being a 1972 model, onboard systems and equipment may be dated and could require upgrades for modern convenience and safety.
Accessibility: The design’s low freeboard and cockpit layout may not be ideal for all sailors, especially in rough conditions or for those who prefer more modern ergonomics.
