Sails and Rigging

The rig is modern and easy to handle. There are no runners needed, not even with an inner hard wind sail. The headsail is only slightly overlapping, which makes tacking very easy. The jib Furler has an under deck drum. On the integral and elegant bowsprit a light wind sail may be used. The top shrouds and the lowers are separated on deck, making it easy for a passage on deck, easy to sheet the headsail, and providing a wide and stable base for the mast. This is a Hallberg-Rassy invention. Tamanaco has the optional electric inmast furling and electric jib furler all controlled by push buttons from the helm.

Boat of the Year IN THE USA 2024

The Hallberg-Rassy 40C has won the Boat of the Year Award 2024 within Best Midsize Cruiser in the Cruising World magazine from the USA.

This annual award recognize and honor the best and newest sailboat models introduced to the North American market. Nominating panels consisting of the magazine’s editors have examined all nominees in detail, both sailing, on deck, under deck and in every detail.

About the 40C, judge Tim Murphy got straight to the point: “Arguably, this was the best-built monohull in the fleet. Systems-wise—with the electrical labeling, analog breakers, engine layout and access, sound insulation, the doubled Racor filters—it was definitely best in show. She sailed over to the United States on her bottom, some 10,000 nautical miles, and looked fresh from the showroom. The 40C has the same-size cockpit as the Hallberg-Rassy 44, which is a pretty neat trick. It has a longer waterline and more volume than the company’s 10-year-old 40-footer that it replaced. And more volume equals more-powerful sailing. I jotted down this note after our test sail: ‘Steering is absolutely divine.’ What else is there to say?”
